Is it possible to use the lion tail on a wolf?+another Q'
« on: January 31, 2013, 06:31:37 pm »
Welcome fellow feralhearter! First of all, thanks for clicking this topic ;D
Q1.
I am making a dragon character, and I wanted to use the wolf model because my character has a very skinny muzzle. However, my character also has a lion tail. Is it possible to copy the fliontail.fhm file and rename it cliontail? Would that allow me to use it on the canine model? And also, once I rename it, where should I put it?
Q2.
I heard that you can use markings as bases for preset, and I know some players who have done this. But my question is, how? How do you use a marking from a markings pack in a preset? And how do you color the marking once you've pasted it?

:)

For your first question no I don't think you can use the lion tail for the wolf model even if you renamed the file since that tail model was never designed for the wolf model.

For your second question I don't think you should use someone else's markings as a base for a preset design as that is like stealing unless you ask the creator of those markings for permission to use it. If you wanted to use the markings though you probably could just stick them in another layer and draw into those markings. Not sure exactly how to explain that though.

Your first question has intruiged me. I think maybe, just maybe, if you get the lion tail mesh which I guess is 'ftail1.mesh' and rename it, probably to one of the names of a canine tail that already exists. Renaming it 'ctail4.mesh' might replace the tailless option with a lion tail. The name probably wouldn't change but the meshs might.
I haven't put this theory into practise but it sounds as if it could work.

Give it a go if you feel brave enough, and tell us if it worked XD I'd be interested to know.

Very interesting, a lion wolf mix! Although, like Lord Suragaha said for the second question, you have to ask permission. The first one, I'm not sure. I think there's a tutorial somewhere for that. But then again, I could be wrong..

Lol, I tried doin' the first one and the tail was half-floating XD It looked awful ;-; But, it worked. I think I'll just use the "cat tail" option instead XD

And for the 2nd one, I'll just draw the markings on the preset I guess XD))

Idk about switching the tails around, I was able to do something like that with the feline's "no tail" but it didn't look/fit right on the canine body so ya know, up to you.

Again that's because Kovu didn't design the feline tails for canine use. Both body meshes are totally different so in order to do something like that Kovu would have to make the feline tails specifically redesigned for the canine model. Even if you could switch the current tails they will always look a bit off on the other animal models. Same goes with the old IT items. They had to be converted a bit and reformatted to fit correctly on the new canine and feline models. Either way though I believe Gamma has got her answer ^_^ so yeah this post could get locked.
