Abyss easily brought up the rear as usual, glancing around at the overgrowth around them. She growled faintly, as if she could use echo location to warn off the quickly advancing scent of their infectious brethren.
Klein snagged some fruit from many trees as they passed under them. His ears pinned back and he crouched against her as he sensed that something was getting closer. "A... Bay?" he said trembling. "What's going to happen to us...?"
"I cannot say, my little one. All we can do is let fate unravel itself as we advance."
"I... don't understand..." he said quietly.
"I'm coming home, in this era, I will see your face... reflecting through the water as I find my way home to you..." Abyss sang faintly, to try and calm the cub. "May the wind ever guide you to me, my child. Dreams are not impossible, for your kind worships the moon. Be free of spirit, and may your paws grow wings. Little one, you may be the only one. Little one, you are graceful and delicate."
The wind picked up, and began howling faintly with her modest voice, giving the tune a certain haunting rhythm.
"You shall protect all that you hold dear, your heart is grand. Your soul overpowers all who are in your presence. May you find your own road to Paradise..." she growled as a rustling sound became closer, and a bird flew violently out of the thicket. "Something may be coming your way... Be prepared, my love. My beautiful little one..." she took a defensive stance as she walked backwards so that she could get a better look at the forest behind them.
