Zanu watched her go. He then looked back at Khar and sighed. "Thank you!" He called after her. He then limped over to Khar and lay down. He placed his head on the dry earth. He knew the infected were getting closer, but there was no point running, he was too slow to get away, they would just catch up any way. He looked at Khar, his breast of feathers rising slowly, up and down. He looked in the distance, small figures just see-able. He closed his eyes. So close....they were so close. It was amazing, that, at your last moments, you could suddenly see everything, without using your eyes. He could hear they're distant paw pads, clumsy and heavy. He could smell their foul stench. He could feel the earth beneath him, the minute vibrations as they got closer.
