Problematic today. ;.;
« on: February 17, 2013, 09:00:05 pm »
Okay, so the way of the computer is an alien sorcery to me and I kind of need some help.

Problem:
The game lags SUPER bad when I go into a map with many particles in it.

Example:
If I go into a really pretty grove of blossom trees it's fine until I go into sight of the falling blossom particles and then it seems to get overwhelmed and laggy.

Things I've done:
1.) I've switched Feral Heart to open onto an unused core. It helped to the point of where I was crashing I'm now just laggy.

2.) I've removed maps I don't use and have shortened the sight distance.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I can do to help fix this?

ALSO!

Problem:
If I go into a largely populated map I tend to crash, the only exception is if I turn off chat. For some reason that works, but then it's laggy and not really worth it because I can't talk. xD

Example:
Going into Fluorite, Bonfire, or Ficho during the day.

Things I've done:
Basically the same things as above.

NEW PROBLEM!!

There's next to no one in the Cape, yet I keep crashing when I try to get in.

Any suggestions for the computer challenged?

Thank you for you're time!

If you have Windows Live Messenger, Skype, any browser, or anything of the likes open while you are ingame, it makes it laggier. If you have any of those open, I suggest you exit them until you're done playing. c:

If that isn't the case, it's just because an area is very populated at the moment.

As for as your crashing into maps during the day like Ficho and Fluorite, these maps are usually heavily populated, and thus youre gonna crash or get bad tokens if they are full up. Check the right hand side of your screen by moving your cursor.

As for your lag, turning off the water reflection will make the game less pretty, but it will run smoother. Also if youre running a Windows PC, I'd recommend Direct3D9 over OpenGL

Switching to Direct help a bit as did turning off the reflection but I'm still lagging a tad. Oh well, guess it's just something I'll have to live with.

Thank you both for your help. :)

Updated with a new problem instead of making another thread.

I don't know if I'm just lazy or trying not to spam the board. xD

Sometimes the Cape crashes randomly due to issues with the server or what not. Give it a few minutes and see if it comes back to normal. You can also hold your clicker over the right side of the forum to see if the Cape is down at the moment. Since I can't come online I can't verify that myself.
