Password Sharing
« on: April 19, 2013, 02:55:58 am »
A long time ago I let a person in my hyena group.  She kind of seemed weird but I just ignored it to not be rude.  At the time I only had FH+ (Don't ask...) and I had never been in The Cape on normal FH so this was partly my fault.  I did not know FH+ and FH had different Cape maps.  So I wanted her to go to a place she couldn't on FH.  Finally she got mad and gave me her password so I could put her in it.  So I went on thinking she was lucky I wasn't a hacker.  Also I noticed that all of her characters where named Laddy.  Is it normal to have all the same names?  I think she was not smart to give away her password like that and she may have been hacked by now if she has done it again.

Its verry normal to have the same chara names. Because you could have the same chara in SP or BF or FP so you dont have to travvle back and forth and back again. Yet giving out your password is wrong and annoying someone to the point where they get mad and give it to you is wrong also. But the point is, if that person wants to give other people there password or user its there fault if they get hacked and get told by people they shouldnt do it.

I also have many characters with the same names, they all serve their own purposes. So I personally don't find it weird at all. xD

I think she was not smart to give away her password like that and she may have been hacked by now if she has done it again.

Well, as it says in the rules ''Your account, your responsibility''. Although I agree that it wasn't the smartest thing to do, because some FH users aren't always cuddly and friendly, so she could have easily had her account stolen. Another thing I don't like is that she did it out of anger, but it's her choice and I or anyone else can't really do anything about that.

It wasn't until some time ago that I knew people used copies of the same character, but it does kinda make sense. This way, you're not running all over the place one just one charrie, nu?
I've even known one player who had different species-versions of the same character. Her wolf in my old roleplay, Hyacinth, apparently also had a hyena version, as well. (Sadly, sweet little hyena-Hya was killed by lions. </3)

But, as Rami said above, giving out one's password is just plain irresponsible, and she very could've lost the account if she gave it to the wrong person. When that does happen, though, I believe it's best to not even open their account on your computer, in case they decide to go and get themselves banned one day, and your IP address would/wouldn't be connected to theirs depending on that moment. Then, just explain how it's a bad idea to do that.
Granted, like you said, it was a long time ago, so that particular instance isn't too much to worry about.
(Still a kindacrazy floof, though.)

Urgh...no one should really give anyone their password, doesn't matter how much they may trust someone. Mind you, if you know someone in person and know they're responsible, then I don't see too much of a problem. I'd gladly give my best friend my password if he needed it. Not sure why he would, he doesn't come here often...

But, yes

Your account, your responsibility

I don't think we can stress that enough. So many bad things happen to people because they were irresponsible enough to let someone in on their login details - people get hacked and sometimes banned for something they didn't do but it happened on their account. That person certainly was lucky that time, but who knows what's occured afterwards.

Even if you have brothers or sisters in the same house that use FeralHeart, it's always best to have seperate accounts. Sharing accounts only comes with disadvantages. At least, if you have your own personal accounts, you have your own friend lists, groups and characters.

I agree with the people above, and I'd go as far as to say you should NEVER give out your password to anyone - regardless the reason why. And if you still do it there is no excuses if this action causes your account to be banned - you can never know what the other person are doing on your account.
This person was very lucky that it was a nice and helpful floof such as yourself that she gave out her password to.

Also as Rami said I too dislike that she did this in anger.

And yes it's common that some make several copies of the same character and use the same name on all.
I myself have characters named different things - but also a few that is simple named "Shallow" ^.^

Ah, I did not say 'You did this, Shame on you  O:<' I am simply stating if anyone new to the game descides to read this to just state that you should never share any personal or any deatails about yourself and your user over the game.

I gave the password of my old account to my BF because her FH accounts never worked for longer than 1 month. (Strange, Ikr ?) She even knows that I have the same PW all the time... And I did that with another person I dont even realy know too buut I guess I had luck to find some people I can trust <- I don't know how to spell it. sorry.
