How do you guys feel about Today's Cartoon?
« on: April 30, 2013, 12:58:53 am »
Yeah, so how do you guys feel about Today's Cartoon?

Honestly, I feel today's cartoon is becoming bad for children like my age or even younger, because many kids are doing some bad actions that people be saying or flaming..Like "Boy..You hairline is crock it...OOOHHH" Etc..So I think this is getting out of hand. Also, I was in church and the Bishop told us a little boy burn himself in sand or said somebody buried him and left him to die, just because they did it in the cartoon. O.o! Anyone agreeing with here? Sorry for disappointing anyone, but anyone knows Regular Show and Adventure Time? Yes, that's bad us for kids..For example, my nephew is like saying stupid and other bad things..I really want him to stop..I just hate cartoons now cause of this... >.< Or anyone knows Narvto? (Like a amine show with Japanese people? Also, I hope I'm spelling that) Yeah, that's a bad show to watch and Dragon Ball Z..Well I should stop and share your expressions.

Please share your opinions

There are a few shows that are rather negative. Spongebob is an example. It's been proven to lower test scores if I remember a study I was reading about correctly.

Adventure Time is however one of the best shows I've ever seen. It teaches very, very profound things in a number of their episodes, many of it merely quotes.

Naruto's an anime and many anime are similar in nature. It's not even a recent cartoon since it started airing in the early 2000s in Japan. Dragon Ball Z is much older.

It's not the kids cartoons that should really be focused on but more on the cartoons kids watch that aren't rated for kids, in my opinion.

I myself watch cartoons like Adventure Time, all types of anime, and sometimes Family Guy or American Dad.
Younger children shouldn't even by watching any anime or Family Guy and American Dad because anime has a ton of violence most of the time and obviously Family Guy and American Dad are for adults and teens.

I don't think cartoons are bad most of the time. Yeah, there's really violent and stupid shows. But kids shouldn't be watching violent cartoons and anime anyway.

People that take what happens in cartoons or anime seriously and do it in real life are just, pardon me for saying this, plain downright stupid.
I watch a show called Doctor Who where the main character fights bad guys and aliens. Do I go out looking for bad people and start beating them to a pulp or blowing them up? Nope.
The people that did that to the little boy were messed up in the head to even do that.
They would have done something else just as bad without cartoons, because, like I said, they were messed up in the head. No one in their right mind would kill a little boy.

And is your nephew a younger child? Because children don't know things are wrong or annoying, they're young and inexperienced in this great big world. I suggest being patient with your nephew and just playing along. c:

But children in Japan watch anime at young ages and they turn out just fine.

When it comes to shows parents should just be wary of what their kids watch and if it turns out to be a problem, reprimand them about it. I don't feel that kids should fully "not watch some shows" (as long as the content isn't in the adult rating) just because of some things like violence or anything.

A large amount of us have more than likely grown up with Looney Tunes and Tom and Jerry and we turned out fine.

The people that do act out based off what they do in shows are rare to come by. If it's a problem then the parent should keep an eye on the child if anything. I don't think cartoons are the only factor that make kids do dumb things like that. xD

I cannot deny that I am not a fan of some of today's cartoon shows. I did watch a few episodes of some of the cartoons on Cartoon Network; Regular Show, Adventure Time, Gumball, etc. The only thing that comes to mind with some of these shows is "why would some of the content be put in kids shows?" But then again, there has always been some crude humor in cartoons of the past; Looney Tunes, Rocko's Modern Life, Angry Beavers, Dexter's Lab, Ed Edd n' Eddy, etc.

Honestly, I feel today's cartoon is becoming bad for children like my age or even younger, because many kids are doing some bad actions that people be saying or flaming..Like "Boy..You hairline is crock it...OOOHHH" Etc..So I think this is getting out of hand. Yes, well most young kids have a habbit of repeating and acting out things they have seen on TV. I did hear of a story about some kids burrying a little boy in a sandbox because he was pretending to be Gaara from Naurto. They burried his head completely, and when he started waving his arms around in the air because he couldn't breathe, his friends thought it was part of his act. It's a very sad story.  :'( Or like the little boy who accendently hung himself by the towel he tied around his neck, because he was pretending to be Superman. He somehow got himself hung over the staircase in his house, when he was jumping around the rails of the stairs.
I had a classmate who had a 3 year old son who would repeat things he had seen on Spongebob. She told us that he once saw Patrick hit Spongebob on the head with a hammer in a funny way. So the little 3 year old, not old enough to know any better, repeated that action by taking a small hammer and hitting his mom on the head with it. I also knew of someone elses kid, who was in the 1st grade, got into trouble with his teacher for repeating a joke she heard on either The Amazing World of Gumball or Regular Show. I don't know what it was she said, but the teacher didn't like it. The bad part about it is, the little girl probably didn't even know what the joke was really about. She didn't understand how offensive it was.
As a matter of fact, when I was little I would repeat quotes from animated Disney movies, and cartoon shows all the time. There was one time when I did get in trouble for repeating a character quote from a cartoon show. I just used it in the wrong place, in the wrong time.  :-\

But children in Japan watch anime at young ages and they turn out just fine.

People bring their kids up different in Japan than how people bring their kids up in the U.S. They show a few things in animes over in Japan that would be considered lewd in the U.S. But to the Japanese, it's probably no big deal.

I used to watch Dragon Ball Z back when I was in grade school, and I used to watch Naurto in middle school. Yes, those animes are violent. BUT, when they were broadcasted on American television, the episodes were filtered and edited for content.... especially Dragon Ball Z. The only thing that wasn't really edited was all the fighting action.

I must say that I do like one of today's modern cartoons. My Little Pony is one of them, since it has good characters, good plots, and good lessons learned at the end of each episode. I don't watch it too often, since I don't have the channel that broadcasts it. But I have seen some episodes, and I really like it. It reminds me of the old school MLP back in 1992-1994, but back then it was called My Little Pony Tales.

In conclusion, the only ones who can control what kids watch is parents. If the parents don't want their kids to watch a certain cartoon for whatever reason, so be it. If the parents don't care what their kids watch on TV, it's their choice. I find nothing really wrong with kids pretending to be one of their favorite characters from a TV show. If they do say something that could be considered offensive or dangerous, there is a chance they probably don't know. That's when the parents should talk to them about it.

I think cartoons are starting to get very very out of hand in violence and in adult humor in kids shows not naming any though. There are some shows that were violent and creepy me and Matryoshka watched like Invader zim, Courage the cowardly dog, Generator Rex, Ben 10 etc which we  especially loved Generator Rex but I can't put my finger on why lol. But there are shows that do stupid things which kids imitate like The Amazing world of gumball I was taking a walk after watching an episode of the show and two kids were imitating part of that episode and I was watching them thinking Are they trying to get ran over you see they were racing with blind folds on so I walked over grabbed them both by the shoulders not hard though took of their blind folds and said What are you two doing? And they replied Racing like gumball did. And I said Don't do that you could've been hit by a car. And they said Oh. And I took them up to their porch and told them to tell their mom what they were doing or I would. And they did. But yea...

What happens after a kid watches a peculiar cartoon, anime- or even just reads a book depends on HOW they're mind works, and HOW easily influenced they are. It's probably a lot more likely to see someone of a very young age demonstrate things from a Television show, or repeat something someone said. Really, it kind of just depends on their understandment of if something is good or bad, and weither or not it should be repeated in real life.

So, I really don't think any cartoons could be categorised as 'bad' for the content it holds. It is merely a matter of the child's perspective and weither or not they can categorise what is right as 'good', and what is wrong or foolish as 'bad', and if a parent thinks that they can't do that? It's up to them to prevent their child from viewing that content.

These kind of things kind of depend on a kid's perspective on things, really; no matter how young or old they are.

IT'S ANNOYING. Just, really annoying. There was this kid in my class who was always talking about the popular shows from Cartoon Network. (i.e. Regular Show, in fact, that was the one he said things from the most) So yeah, it's annoying. Also, I hardly ever watch Cartoon Network. The only show I watch is Dreamworks Dragons, and that's it.

Nick? Don't even get me started on that. It used to be a decent channel until what I call 'the era of inappropriate kids tv' happened. Now there's just madness on television. (well except for The Hub and channels that are designed for young children) All of the Dreamworks shows that air on Nick are just plain rediculous. (however you spell that)

Hmm, my opinion on today's cartoons are... Terrible, only very few decent shows. It could be much worse however. Be thankful it isn't worse right now.

Wow. Lots of opinions. Thank you for your feed back.

Lady@: Lmao. My little Pony Tales? Anyway, I totally agree with you in the second paragraph. I really sorry for those kids. 3:

@Porpoise:I couldn't agree more. I feel like tv is getting worse by the second, especially on Cartoon Network and other places..also for games, too. I forgot mention; that some people create games..Anyone noticing that? Well anyway, tv is getting out of hand.

@Shusuke: Spongebob, 100% agreement. Spongebob, in my opinion, is annoying and stupid to follow, also Patrick with his dumb head. I eventually stop watching spongebob since I was laughing like him and being also a dumb brain..Yeah.. Thanks

@BouncyLion101: I understand you, where you're getting at. Some channels are not for children, I get it...Mostly, people or kids be watching because probably one of there family is watching it..Also, Family Guy can really mess up your brain and caused to bad things..Sexuality,Violence,etc..

And yes, my nephew is young. And eh..If you say so.. xD He knows how to fight already!! He punches hard.. >.>

The old cartoons were really entertaining. Not too much violence, cussing or any other innapropiate things for children. There aren't anymore cartoons that no matter your age,you just simply fall in love with them(MLP for example). As for animes, well young children around my house have become agressive and are obsessed of the well...nude scenes.
