Map and Object Maker Questions
« on: July 06, 2013, 03:07:19 pm »
Hello, thar. Yup, I'm posting away... again. Man, I need to figure things out! xD

Okay, so I have some questions about objects. I have wondered how to make textures, like a crystal texture for my gems. How do you do that? How do you make the crystalglowmat a different color, without deleting the original one? How do you make an invisible texture?

Go in photoshop or whatever program you use and change the color. But save the image as a different name. Then create a copy material of the crystal then and go in notepad, you should see some text. Change whatever texture to the texture of you new image. And give it a new material name. Save. Then when in object maker, type the material name with you gem mesh.

Exactly what Ranulf said. ^^ You can derp up a derpy-ish image just by drawing a bit on the picture and using Filters in Gimp, dunno if Photoshop has them, and making a random mess-around.
Save it as a .png if you want transparency I think. There's a code that does a see-through thing with the object without putting an alpha channel in the image. I think it's the ice cube code that Thierry has for his ice cube mesh.
Just save the material as [NAME].material and perhaps just save the icecube.material as a different name...? modify with the .png too where it says the image name of the object and ALSO the material name next to material in the .material  (make sense? XD).

I'm probably just confusing ya. Ranulf probably made more sense to you, but I'm just explaining another thing alongside him to do this, with making your object see-through.
Transparency is a bit of a different story. ^^ Even if transparency IS see-through sort of.
