The weight of the sled made it much more difficult to drag through the snow, greatly slowing their overall pace. Juneau, while he still desperately tried to tug against the harness, forced himself to slow the pace back down to a trot to avoid exhausting himself and the others. Trudging the two hour trail back to town, he let out a tired huff through his heavy panting as Benamin shouted the order to halt. Juneau instantly plopped down to his belly in the snow, hanging his head and panting hard from the effort the weighted sled put on them.
Stark held his head low as he was pulled along behind the leaders. He let out a sigh of relief when the lead dogs slowed the pace. Though the slower pace helped a lot, the heavy sled still put quite the strain on the Chinook and the rest of the team, he was sure. This being theier first time out all year, he knew everyone was pretty rusty. Slowing to a clumsy stop, Stark's legs buckled beneath him and he immediately plopped over to his side, panting thankfully for the break. Benjamin had already begun to unload the sled.
