Was unable to access forum - error 301
« on: August 30, 2013, 07:59:04 am »
Okay, while this issue was fixed yesterday magically, I am more than sure this will happen again, since not even Tigg knows what could have caused my issue.

So... since more than a month I was unable to connect to the forum. All that came was this error message:

Quote
301 - Moved
You may not be able to visit this page because of:

-an out-of-date bookmark/favourite
-a search engine that has an out-of-date listing for this site
-a mistyped address
-you have no access to this page
-The requested resource was not found.
-An error has occurred while processing your request.

Please try one of the following pages:
Home Page

If difficulties persist, please contact the System Administrator of this site.

Now the problem was not the bookmarking. Since I tried both writing into the browser, using my bookmarks, and searching with google and then clicking the link that it showed me, even using Tigg's link.
I have not changed my computer and internet settings either.
I also would like to note that I have numerous times been blocked from the forum by the security system, who said I am a spambot... Though, Tigg said that this time it wasnt the case.

So... what could have caused this error and what could I do to prevent it from happening in the future?

Thank you!

You could try to perhaps delete your browser cookies which you can do on the top right hand side. Either that of your anti-virus thinks the page your are going to is bad.
If you have another Internet browser on your computer then I would try it as well, it could be just the Internet browser you use. Try using Firefox or GoogleChrome

I have used different browsers to test of course through the course of a month I was trying to access the site, cookies were deleted many times over at this time, but still nothing have changed. So, I guess it did not cause the problem. And I am using Google Chrome. Also tried Firefox but there was no success.

I think I remember something like this happening to me when it's just the server being very glitchy. Usually it fixes by itself after a few glitch moments. I used Internet Explorer and it worked just fine. But yeah sometimes I think the web glitches for some people if there is alot going on or just a very slow Internet connection.

I have a quiet fast internet, everything works fine. The server couldnt have been the problem since it worked for everyone else, only I couldnt access it. And surely it would have gone away after a few hours of days. instead I had this error for more than a month...

This happened to me a few days ago. I tried to access the forum many times (it only let me see the home page) so I left it completely for a while and didn't try to get access to the site. I turned off my computer and the next day it worked. Make sure your internet connection or anti-virus aren't freaking out, though I don't know how they would be the problem since they can't change settings by themselves.

Next time try deleting cookies (as stated above) and all that. For now you should just be happy that it works and don't worry about it! xD

I didnt even get to see the front page.. so it surely isnt the same as my problem. All I could see was that error. Nothing more. And I did clean my cookies many times while I attempted to access the forum.

Yes, I am happy that now it works, but I dont want for this to happen again... It took me months until it fixed itself... until then I was cut from the forum and any means of asking for help. So, I want to know what happened, so I can fix it myself. Or the staff could look into it. But even they dont know what is going on...

Oh, well in that case I'm so sorry :c It hasn't happened to me since so it's most likely it won't happen again. ;)
