Just a thought...about wearable items
« on: September 23, 2013, 02:47:22 am »
Ive always been curious.
 If you have the wearable items mesh and material in the items folder, but you don't have it listed in the items.cfg file
and someone else that is wearing it does....can the other person still see the item on them but not be able to wear it themself?

I was wondering if personal items could be made that way and others couldn't wear them.

Like say a princess character had a tiara that everyone could see but no one else could wear it

Anyone know if this works?

Actually, when it comes to items and stuff like this, well. It's basically just how the system below is described

-Other User has the same cfg code, materials, textures, & mesh as you do User can see your item
-Other User does not have the same cfg code, materials, textures, or mesh as you do User can-not see your item

Private item or not, unless its what the first thing is, well, no-one can really see it without being able to personally use it themselves. I know, pretty inconvenient, right? But I suppose that's simply how FeralHeart works at the moment, and without Kovu around we can't really do much, nor really suggest much that could help with being able to see private items.

(-Ninja'd by Tele. xD)
-
Items are a bit derpy in the way they were added in.
There can be no private items that others can see but not wear.
Items go by list order.
So let's say you have 3 items installed, in this order;
1. Sunglasses
2. Headphones
3. Collar
And your friend has 4 items, in this order;
1. Bell
2. Bow
3. Rose
4. Headphones
-
If you are wearing sunglasses, your friend will see a bell.
If you wear headphones, even though your friend has headphones, they are not in the same order, so they will see the bow.
Items don't go by any special mesh name or whatnot, just by the order they are in. If they are wearing item 4, while you don't have one, then you don't see anything on them.
Meep.
Hope that helps anyway. xD

Like Tele said, nobody will see your item if they don't have it themselves.
And if, for example, they downloaded Thierry's pack of items pack (which is compatible with the three most used items pack :D), if they later on download your item, they won't be able to see someone's proper item anymore, and nor will the other person see their items.

The order of the items depend on your item pack and .cfg code, so you can't really have a private item and someone seeing it without giving out the download. That's why I would give the item download to my friends only.

That or if you want a large amount of items I recommend ThaBlue's item pack up on Feral Heart University, than giving your friends your item pack. If you don't want to give them the download you can let them see it however by posting a movie in the chat so they can preview it, otherwise theres no other way to show it.
