I usually name my characters upon their personality/color. I then translate the word to either Welsh, Latin, Hungarian or Greek.
ex: My character Kairos, which mood changes like the weather. Weather = Kairos in Greek.

For WC characters, it's a bit different. I didn't always stick to traditional WC names. For example, my characters Voidsoul and Soulshatter. Now I stick to more original and traditional names. I simply look at them and try to spot a possible prefix. It takes me some time. Sometimes I'm inspired by something. Well, most of the time. Everytime.
ex1: Nightcreek, name inspired when I searched on a WC names website, the suffix 'creek' came in.
ex2: Lindenkit, because I have a huge linden in my front yard, that's the only thing I could think about.

Sometimes, though, I name my characters after characters of movies/books/series. It's rare, though. BUT, under this rare case, I made a cat version of The Doctor, a cat version of Anna and a cat version of Elsa with different names though but
ex1: cat Elsa = Eira which means snow in Welsh
Ex2: cat Doctor = whatever it is, it's just doctor translated in Greek

Well, that's all. I've got nothin' else. -flees-

Why yes, name-bashing is rather fun - 'cept when your computer disagrees. (I may or may not have hit the power button once by mistake. .-.)

Haha, I normally use Google Translate for my names, usually from English to Latin or so. But my fursona's name, Hetailah, came from an Indian song that I heard of. I swear I heard them say "hetailah" in it or something, but I looked in the lyrics and there wasn't, but from what I heard it gave me the perfect name idea and I just turned it into Hetailah!

Hehehe, very interesting methods you guys have.
[I personally like the keyboard bashing one. Might need to give that a try. >;3]

I do agree, most of my characters get their names based off of their color or personality. Like I said, recently I've been sticking to cool names I've happened across in the Bible.
There's some characters that just immediately bring a name to my mind simply because of their personality or how they look. Like my coyote character- who is named Manasa (again, a Biblical name).

So yeah, I guess I name mine simply because of their appearance and personality- though if they're based on someone/something that plays a key role.

For example, my dire wolf, Kelso- he is based off of Thomas Hickey from Assassin's Creed 3.
Because Hickey is from the England/Ireland region, I looked up a map of the area and chose the name Kelso from the name of one of the area's cities.

There are so many options to choose, but sometimes when I don't feel creative enough to make up a name simply, I'll use google translate to find a simple name in a different language. xD Or, on rare occasions, a name inspired by someone. Like Icarus, for example, named after someone in a myth I heard. (Look it up if you wish.)

But, sometimes I do in fact just make up the name itself if I'm not too lazy, like Shinru or Eacho, right out of the blue. I guess it really just depends?

I make up my character names most of the time but sometimes I go on google and write "Male animal names" or "Female animal names", depends what gender. I also LOVE unique names so I sometimes go on google and write down "Unique male names" or "Unique female name".
Last but not least, I like Greek god names. Example: Zeus, Prometheus, Athena etc..

I don freaking know How I name my characters, honestly XD.

Sometimes I go random on the names such as... Saven, Juope, Heronacta, Kezar,Uiro

Sometimes I name them after planets/stars/KPO......Haumea, Jupiter, Xena

And sometimes I play it casual.....Joseph, Lukas, Benjamin, Kai

But I also translate the words. such as the name 'Beybin' its the end in the meaning 'Insane' in another

language.Hint hint insane character.

Even sometimes other meanings by the hebrew and the indians, etc. Such as Ariav (Father is a lion)

I used to be WolfInCourt on the forums, but just call me Kuesuto now or Kue.

I had troubles making up names for my characters once till I figured out how easy it can be if you have a certain Character that is easy to match with a name.
If you come across my Profile, don't forget to leave a "Nuzzle" before you go.

I usually name my characters after words in vague foreign languages. .w. I used to like Gaelic (e.x. my wolf character Reithe, which means "ram" after his horns), and I still kind of do, but now I'm more into Ainu (e.x. my pampas fox Shinnam, "coldness" since I created him for the holiday party a few months ago). Other times I name them after obscure songs or song lyrics, or I look at a name-picking website for random inspiration. But I particularly like the foreign languages, yes.
