Main account doesn't work anymore

Hello,

I remembered that I wrote that to an german admin a while ago, kinda it didn't help me.. but whatever, it had been a long time ago, so I can't really remember it..

First of all, my second account works perfectly, I can log in, choose a character and start the game normally. When I do the same with my main account, it appears an error that the game stopped working and so it 'crashes'.

This always happens to me, no matter which character I choose.

Might it be a technical problem? :/ I'd be happy if the problem could be solved because I have pretty many characters on my main account...

Depending on how long your account had been unused may depict what happened. Inactive or 'unused accounts' may get deleted over time, and as you said it had been a long time since you used the account may be the reason of it's crashing, but it may not be the attempt of log in that is crashing your game.

Check your particles folder for any files ending in _0 _1 _2 _3 etc and delete them if you find them, it's a glitch that sometimes happens in the setup.

But, as you said it was crashing as you tried to get into the game with that account makes me belive the account has ether been deleted or the game it's self is goofed up, maybe try re-installing and saving any important files (maps, presets, items etc) before doing so.

The reason I stopped playing with main account i because it became unusuable since this error. After getting no help, I just created this second account which works well.

Since I thought I might get some help here, I created this topic

I already tried re-installing and so on, so I think that's some kind of technical problem.

I believe I know what's goin' on here. Take a look at this:

1. Make sure your caps lock is not on. The login is caps sensitive! Make sure you're typing everything correctly.

2. Do not use the numpad! Use the numbers above the alphabet on your keyboard.

3. Does your username or password have any unusual symbols such as ?$!@*-_ ect.? This can mess things up for some people. Make a new account if you're having trouble with symbols. If you make a new one, please try to stick with a-z letters, nothing capitalized.

4. Make sure that your keyboard language is in English! It won't log you in unless you have a US keyboard setting.

5. If you're trying to log on ingame, make sure the server is up and running. You can do this by looking at the top of the banner of this forum.

6. Make sure you are logging in with your username, not forum nickname. My actual username is JazzForLife, and I log in with that. I do not use Jazzz, because that is my forum nickname.

7. Even if you change your password on the forum, your password for the game will always be the same you signed up with.

If ye' take a gander at the suggestions above, it lists some of the main reasons why some usernames are inaccessible. If ye' follow said suggestions, perhaps one of them may shed some light as to why yer first account refuses to cooperate.

Hey,

sorry for the late answer. I tried the tips, Vespian. But they didn't help.

As I already told, the problem isn't login - it only happens when I choose a character and press 'Start'. Then, while loading the game, it always crashes.

To put it briefly, I CAN log in. I just can't get into the game, because it always crashes while loading.

And I got my 2nd account which works perfectly. So I'm thinking that it's a technical problem :/ Something's not correct with my main account. I have truly no idea how to fix it.

Try changing your render  subsystem, this error happened to me when I was at the summer party at FH I crashed all the time xD And this fixed

First of all, most of the material in this thread is taken/copied from other people, all credit to them for fixing it. :3
So I'm just putting them all into one thread. (:

1. Try changing your rendering subsystem.

The absolute First thing you want to try is to change the rendering mode for the game. There's different rendering modes you can pick from, usually OpenGL and Direct3D9. This decides which way your graphic card should process the game. This one is at standard set to OpenGL, so we'd want to set it to Direct3D9.

There's 2 ways you can change this setting.

How to fix it!
Either you start the game, go into the options menu, click the Video tab, and then change the rendering subsystem and restart the game.

Sometimes you aren't able to even enter the game, and all you can hear is the menu music, or it just crashes directly after launch. Those who experience this can enter the feralheart folder located in C:\FeralHeart at standard, find the file called "Ogre.cfg" and open it with wordpad.

This file works just as the ingame options menu, but instead of buttons and sliders, there's text.

What we're interested in is the top row


Set the top row text so it is just like in the picture with the text

Save the file, and close it. Next time you run the game it should boot with the new settings you applied.

Even though this solves the graphical problems for most, there's still some unlucky ferals out there that the problems still remain for, but there's still 1 more thing you can try, and that is to update your graphic card drivers.

A computer is hardware, and with time it gets old just like any other thing in this world. If you had your computer for a while, and never updated the drivers, this might be the cause for FeralHeart not to work correctly. Installing Drivers for your computer is like installing any other program that it might need, though knowing how to do this might be tricky, so check the tutorial on how to Here!

If you already tried this and it's not working, chances are that your computer is getting old and can't handle the game. Installing drivers might help, but you're still running the same hardware. Try the game on another computer instead.

Plus.. you can also try replacing the selected text in the top row with:

2. You might be missing/have doubles of some important files, so just re-install the game.

3. You might have double particles, or other particle problems.
- You should also check for doubles in the object files.

What you have to do is go to your particle folder (by default: My Computer -> C: Drive -> Feralheart -> Media -> Particles).

Look at your .particle files. See any with a _0, _1, etc. behind their name? If so, delete them. These are copys automatically made (for some wierd reason I don't know yet - maybe a glitch?) and therefore are uneeded. Be sure you don't delete your main stuff tho, don't kill the original particle template.

4. There's something else wrong with your game?

Just uninstall the game, delete the FeralHeart folder and all the old setups, patches, etc. Then just download and install it again.
That should solve the problem. (:

Do you have any item packs or other uploads like presents or maps that might have viruses or problems?
Maybe try contracting a staff member maybe they can help you, here view them at the staff page.
Maybe see if anything like a certain file is missing or a strange file is on it.
Also have you used this account on another computer before because that might have done something strange to it.
