Water Issue || Halps needed again
« on: May 09, 2014, 12:02:02 am »
I'm making a custom map for an upcoming roleplay at the moment, which includes two rivers and many streams. I didn't want to use the Ocean feature because, like in Ficho, there was one area where a river starts, but it ends lower. I also have custom water. I entered the material into the "New Water" under the "Objects" tab in map maker, and it came out fine. After placing them all in the correct places, I tested them out, but instead of the test character swimming, he fell through the water like it was an item without a collision box.

This is really bugging me because it's a pretty big map, and those rivers took a long time to fill.
Help please? u.e

This sounds a lot like your problem:

Here's Red's quote from the same thread:

If you make too big waterblocks there will not be collisions for the whole water, I do not recall exactly where this limit goes, but I think it stops at 7000 in size, anything bigger you will be able to just walk through.

Since you mention it's going to be a big map, guesses are your waterblock is too big to have water collision around the whole area.

Doesn't even have to be that, maybe you didn't centrate the actual middle of the water block to the middle of the actual "lake". When placing water and the water block is actually bigger than it has to be, try to always place the small block in the middle of any lake/water and then edit the size and height outwards to your likings.

If this is not your problems I'm not sure what would be. But if the water doesn't reach, you can always make several blocks if you line the up nicely, just to copy the same height and diddle with the arrows.

I'll look for some more information also. :3

That's odd. Never knew that :o
I say that's odd because I remember having one map I made, It was a medium sized map, that I only used one water. I might still have it somewhere in my unused maps folder.. Lemme check :p

Editz-
Just checked. The water in that map is something like 10,000 x 10,000 (without commas o,o). But the water still works in that map. I honestly don't know what's going on right now o,o

This is why I'm not a map-maker. x'D Anyways, I hope you figure it out. :3

Alright, I've figured out the water issue, but now there's another problem. I don't want to turn this into a whole new thread, I'm sorry.

I accidentally, while moving the water, set the Y to 3000, while trying to set it to 300. I clicked onto another water thing to check the height, but the game had a mind of it's own and turned the blank space to 0's when I clicked the other water I guess... After that the game crashed... o,o
I'm sorry to ask for help again, probably should have created a new thread. But, just asking, how can I get back into the map without the water crashing the game? u.u

Maybe you should try temporarily putting the default water texture back, then entering your map and fixing the water coordinates. Afterwards try changing the water textures again to what you want it to be and see if that works. Good luck floof. (I don't know much about water files and textures, sorry)
Farewell everyone<3

Thanks, but the texture using the issue. Since I set the map height to 2000, going above that limit would crash the game.. I just need a way to get it down, because I've already placed a lot of the water and I don't want to do it again :/
