Help: There appears to be an error with video
« on: May 10, 2014, 12:31:19 am »
Hello,
   I am having problems with the game. I have just downloaded and installed the game. Maybe I missing something that I don't know. When I am creating the game, its black in the background. I can only see the character and the options when creating it. When I start playing I can only see the character but the rest (scenery, sky, etc.) is black. Maybe I haven't configured the video settings correctly or some other error. I have looked in the forums but haven't found anything that can help.
 Thanks in advance.

These sound a bit like Ogre errors or something similar. I'd highly recommend taking a peek here: http://www.feral-heart.com/index.php?option=com_jfusion&Itemid=2&jfile=index.php&topic=10423.msg144821#msg144821

Also, it sounds like your Feralheart isn't installing completely; maybe from your anti-virus and/or firewall blocking it? I'd recommend decreasing their settings temporarily and then download FH through another browser such as Firefox, Internet Explorer, or Google Chrome.
I'd also recommend seeing if your Computer's graphic card needs to be updated. ^^

Hello, thank you for your reply. I took a look to the ogre errors list. I didn't understand what the ogre errors could be. In case this helps I have also included the ogre.cfg. I don't have an antivirus installed, so I will try downloading through another browser and see if it helps.

Ogre.cfg:

Render System=OpenGL Rendering Subsystem
[OpenGL Rendering Subsystem]
Colour Depth=32
Display Frequency=N/A
FSAA=0
Full Screen=No
RTT Preferred Mode=FBO
VSync=No
VSync Interval=1
Video Mode=800 x 600
sRGB Gamma Conversion=No
[Direct3D9 Rendering Subsystem]
Allow NVPerfHUD=No
FSAA=None
Floating-point mode=Fastest
Full Screen=No
VSync=No
Video Mode=800 x 600 @ 32-bit colour
sRGB Gamma Conversion=No

Hello, The problem is solved. This is what I did:First, uninstall the game, next download through another browser (I used Firefox instead of google chrome which I used initially), After installing again, install the patch (found in the downloads section; I think I missed this and that is why it didn't work). Thanks for your help.

Glad it's fixed! And the patch made it work? Strange, since the game already has it included; the patch is only there for people with old versions of FH. Usually downloading both causes it to crash. o-o Oh well, good it's fixed. :3
