Help with Height Maps?
« on: June 05, 2014, 04:05:33 pm »
So when I make a height map and/or Map Mask, When I type in the file name it says '(file name) cannot be found.' Any reason this might be happening? I save it in Feralheart>Media>Terrains.
Please help! Thanks.

Did you save the file as a .png?
It's been a while since I've made maps but that might help

So, some things to remember with height maps, based on if you made them on Gimp.

For a Height Map;

' Make sure it's a .png
' Make sure it's in grey-scale,
' Make sure that the file is either 512 height by 512 length or 513 height by 513 length
' Try opening ' Watermillterrain ' in gimp, and then making your height map over that, then when you come to save it, you
  just export it as a different name.
' Try loading a height map you know will work first, for example " Watermillterrain "

For Masks;

' Make sure it's a .png
' Make sure it's in colour mode
' Make sure that the file is either 512 height by 512 length or 513 height by 513 length
' Try opening ' Watermillmask ' in gimp, and then making your mask map over that, then when you come to save it, you
  just export it as a different name.
' Try loading a height map you know will work first, for example " Watermillmask "
' Try to use Red, Blue, and Green as your main colours.

Also if that doesn't work try saving your height / mask in My_objects.
