Odd Crashes
« on: June 09, 2014, 02:44:05 pm »
Sometimes when I'm playing the game it randomly crashes, and it continues to do that a few more times when I try to use the character I crashed on. The strange thing is, sometimes when I manage to get back on, my screen is following another person's character. To fix it, I have to disconnect then get back on, but my character spawns next to the character my screen was following. Weird, huh?

Look through your feralheart folder for particle files that end in _0 _1 _2 _3 and so on. If you find any, delete them. That's my guess, anyway. Lemme know if that doesn't work.
Re-installing is also an option

Try changin' yer renderin' system. It may reduce yer crashin'. I'll post a tutorial below on how to do this:

How to Change Your Rendering System
~Windows 7 and 8~

Method number 1~

First, go into C: > Feralheart. If you look at the FH main folder, you will see a flie called:
'orge.cfg'
Click it, and open it with 'NOTEPAD'.

Look at the first two lines in the orge.cfg file. That is where you change your rendering system.

If you followed everything that was typed and the instructions in the pictures, you should have successfully switched your rendering system.

Method number 2~

Turn on FH!
On the main screen, you will see this:

Click options, and go to video. Click 'Rendering System.'

Then just simply switch your rendering system.

Note that sometimes method 2 doesn't awlways work- That's why I listed the orge.cfg file first. ^^

Good luck! Hope this helped those who don't know how to change their rendering system!~
As for the bizarre character situation, it sounds like an unfortunate glitch and I know not myself on what to do with that particular situation as it's never happened to me before. Although ye' could try sendin' yer character home whenever ye' crash while usin' 'em by followin' these instructions (to which I'll place in a spoiler) below. It may prevent ye' from continuously crashin' when ye' try to log back onto the character.

Hello there Floofs,
So upon some of the recent change with the new "Panel" name switch, some confusion on the old version of it still lingers here, So this is a guide of the NEW "Character Reset" that was used but has changed due to the new Preset sync that was introduced recently. Now onto the tutorial. For others who do come across threads that tie into this, you may use as ref if you may.

Why do I need Character Reset:
The reason this was made is to save your character from bad maps or just "bad token" maps that you may come across. This was introduce sometime in 2012-2013 to save characters instead of delete and re-make characters again. Very useful tool for those who happen to go into a private map and doesn't quite work.

Step 1

Well if you have a character in a "dead" map or you have the constant "Failed to connect" or "Bad Token. Then try this Character Reset. When you log in you will see something like this on your top right hand side.
NOTE If you do not see something like this when you log in, then try to log in again. Usually it does turn off for some odd reason after you are gone for a while. Just like when the system logs you out from the forums when you haven't done anything for a long time.
Anyways, the only major change here is that the "Character Reset" has name changed to "Panel"

Step 2

For security reason you do have to log in again with your ingame username and password.
NOTE DO NOT log in with your forum name, this does not work

So for example I would have to log in as Youshallfearme2 since that is MY username, I don't log in as Feareh. Once that step is done, then you are ready for step 3.

Step 3

Red Arrow: This "Reset" button will poof your character back to Lonely Cave. The basic concept of the Reset is generally understandable.
Green Arrow: The "Go Home" sends your character back to the last place you set home to. So if you set your home to the South Pole, when you click this it will poof your character there.
Once you have completed these steps you then successfully saved your character from a bad map. Just a minor note that if you are logged in when you are doing this, it is strongly recommended that you log off and log back in for it to take effect.

You could
1) Look through your feralheart folder for particle files that end in _0 _1 _2 _3 and so on. If you find any, delete them
2) Change your rendering system
(as both said above)

However. random crashes can be quite normal with the game especially if you have alot of lag
i have also known alot of people to suddenly wind up in another users characters body this is because you both simply disconnected at the same time so the server had a little hiccup and switched you both around
as you have stated that you do to fix it, just log out and log back in and it should be fixed
it is not uncommon for this to happen

if none of the above work you may want to try uninstalling and re-installing feralheart C:
but make sure you back up your files first like your downloaded maps, markings, items etc if you have any ^^
