Other people in Bonfire cannot see my Preset.
« on: June 29, 2014, 11:10:09 pm »
Is there any way to get all of the people in Bonfire or any other map to see my preset WITHOUT sending it to them? :-\

You could always try Preset Sync:

This preset sync will allow you to receive presets uploaded to the server automatically. No more sending your preset to everyone and no more downloading every preset. (Note you don't have to install the sync on your pc to share your preset installation is just to recive. If you can't install for whatever reason skip straight down to Uploading Presets.)

Update Added XP Support Linux/Mac support can be found here

Before we begin, I advise you make a copy of your FH folder in case anything goes wrong.

Firstly, you need my modified version of the FH game executable. Vista Win7 and Win8 users can get this here XP users can find it here

XP users have two requirements:
  • You must be an administrator the first time you run the new game file.
  • Your hard drive must be in NTFS format (most are you can check by going to "My Computer" right clicking the drive where you have FH installed and clicking properties)

Now replace FeralHeart.exe from your FeralHeart Folder (normally C:\FeralHeart\) with the copy you just downloaded, Then run the game.

Once the game runs you should now find you have 3 folders in your FeralHeart folder:
  • presets             (Reset at each game run. Only use this to copy out any presets you export)
  • PrivatePresets    (Treat this like the old presets folder copy your exported presets in and any presets from others)
  • PublicPresets     (Where presets from the server appear don't put anything in here)

You will find your presets are now in 'PrivatePresets' and links to them are found in 'presets'. Once we have public presets, links to those will also be merged into the presets folder.

Quick note about PrivatePresets they have priority over public ones so if you have an old private preset for someone you will not see any updates for them if they upload it publicly.

Warning: do not put anything in the public folder or modify anything as you may break the sync system.

Now thats setup we are ready to receive some presets.

Download and run BittorrentSync from here

Then follow the Screenshots bellow. Some I have listed as Optional but I do recommend them.

Optional: I untick the quicklaunch and desktop options here as I feel they are unneeded.
Click next

Click Install

Choose you have a secret and enter "BTQI4TBSVH3KCDNQ7X6NU3QZVA55RD3IY"
Read agree and next

Browse and select your PublicPreset folder
Next again

Now we can Skip

From here on is optional but recomended
Open BTSync if it doesnt automatically you should see this window

Right click and choose show folder preferences

Click properties, Check the boxes as follows then click add

Fill in the server info then hit ok twice

Now hit preferences you probably want to untick the notifications as they will likely become annoying and you may want to change your computers name as other users can read this.
Hit apply and we are done

Now for uploading your presets

For those who have used the character reset, you will find it just below on the same page.

For those who haven't Login at the top of the site and click "User Panel"
There you will find an upload form.

If your preset is too big see here

As long as you keep using the game, your presets will stay. If you don't enter the game for 30 days your presets will be removed to make space on users PCs.

You can either upload your .FHP file to the preset sync, or upload the file to Mediafire.com and give people the link to that download.

As far as I know, there is no possible way of getting other people to see your preset without them downloading your preset. You can try the preset sync anytime but I'm sure there aren't other options.
You can always get the link in your bio so people will somewhat know about your preset.. even though that's not such a great idea.

As said by the others. If you wish to just share your presets fhp file and not download the preset sync you can refer to this tutorial:

How to Export and Share Presets for Friends to see via Mediafire (Old Way)

Ever wanted to show off your cool preset to your friends but didn't know how? Follow these easy steps and you'll be able to show your character in no time.

1.) I reccomend that you create a mediafire account at mediafire.com. The site is free and safe and is one of the easiest file sharing sites you can use for all your Feral Heart file sharing business.

Once you have finished up your preset as shown above you will want to export it not only so that you can access it in the character creator but also so you can share it's fhp file to friends so they can see you in your cool new preset. For the sake of this tutorial I will be exporting my Preset_2

Start off by opening up your game. Be sure that in the log in section that your user name is spelled exactly the way you registered it as. That means no variations of your name. Example: My name is MorbidDecadence not morbiddecadence. If you don't make sure to do that correctly then people will not see your preset regardless of having the file due to an error in the name. Once you have checked that select the "Tools" option:

From there select the "Preset Maker" option:

Once the preset maker opens look to the top right and select the "V" option. You should see a box in the middle of the screen that says your Preset 1 Preset 2 etc. Depending which preset you are trying to export you select it's corresponding number so in this case I will be selecting Preset 2. Once you select the number preset you wish to export select the "Export" option.

You will see some loading if you do it right. Once you've done this go to mediafire.com and sign in with the account you created. Once signed in you should see a screen like this:

Select the "Upload" option at the top and then select "From Computer":

A giant + shape will appear press that to start the process. Another window will pop up once you press the "+" and now you'll have to find the location of your preset's fhp that you exported to upload to the site. Follow along:

Press "Computer/My Computer"

Select your "Local Disc (C:)" in my case:

Select the "Feral Heart" folder:

Select the "Presets" folder:

Select the Preset that you want to upload. In my case I wanted to upload my 2nd preset so that will be the one with my user name MorbidDecadence_2.fhp.

Once you've selected your file click the green "Begin Upload" button

Once the upload is complete you can click where it says "Copy Link" to get the link to share with all your friends. Through that link they will be directed to your file's download where they can download your preset to see you in game :)

On a side note to make your life even easier you can go to tinyurl.com and with the link you copied of your preset's file you can paste it as so below and get a smaller easier to type url for your preset file download to share in game via the chat or your character bio:

Ok, The preset sync tutorial said that only people who have done the preset sync thing can see it. Is there any way that EVERYBODY, (Not sharing it, they don't download it, etc.) Like, if I go into Bonfire with my preset, every single person can see it. I would really like them to see it without them doing anything except playing the game.

Unfortunately, i don't think yhat's possible. You either upload it to Preset Sync or you give people the .fhp file. Personally, i think Preset Sync is the way to go; seeing as how a lot of people have it. So if you go to bonfire with the preset correctly uploaded, atleast half of the people will be able to see it.

irrKlang.dll is used to play sounds properly inside the game. If it's not there it means it has either been moved or you installed the game with a broken installer.

In other words, uninstall FH and delete its folder. (SAVE any presets or maps) and then reinstall from the site with another browser. The link might have been broken.
Try reinstalling the game completely and then try redownloading what you were trying to download.
