It wont let me play FH
« on: July 04, 2014, 07:45:23 pm »
Every time I try to play Feral Heart it say feralheart.exe has stopped working. I can get to where you log on and to the character selection and when I click start that message pops up every time. I have already uninstalled and re installed and still the same thing! I have been trying to play feral heart for 2 months now. I have researched and all that people say is delete it and re install but I have already done that twice. This is very frustrating!

First of all, have you seen any files in your feralheart folder that are called particle_1, particle_2, and so on? If you happen to, be sure to delete them. Second of all, you may want to change your rendering system:

How To Change Your Rendering System

In this little tutorial, it will show you how to change your rendering system in-game and not. Some examples from others may be found, but will be in the Works Cited giving proper credit to the original creator.

Changing Your Rendering System In-Game & At The Main Menu
Game not opening up? Sometimes the main cause is the rendering system lagging the application out causing a crash, or the rendering system being to strong for your computer to handle. The easy solution below will include step by step what to do, and how to perform it correctly, hope it can be helpful <3

Right click the game icon on your desktop and select "Properties"
then click on "Compatibility and follow the instructions in the image above.
When you reach the dropdown box, select the format you are using~
Finally, click "Apply" then "OK".
As the image and quote above say, find your desktop Feral Heart icon, right click and go to 'Properties', after you have done this click the tab saying 'Compatibility' and use the dropdown menu and select what windows program your computer is running off of. After you have done that, click 'Apply' and then 'Ok'.

If the solution above dosn't help, refer to the tutorial below.

Quote
Render System=Direct3D9 Rendering Subsystem
[Direct3D9 Rendering Subsystem]
Allow NVPerfHUD=No
FSAA=0
Floating-point mode=Fastest
Full Screen=No
Rendering Device=Monitor-1-AMD Radeon HD 7700 Series
Resource Creation Policy=Create on all devices
VSync=No
VSync Interval=1
Video Mode=1280 x 800 @ 32-bit colour
sRGB Gamma Conversion=No
[OpenGL Rendering Subsystem]
Colour Depth=32
Display Frequency=N/A
FSAA=0
Full Screen=No
RTT Preferred Mode=FBO
VSync=No
VSync Interval=1
Video Mode=800 x 600
sRGB Gamma Conversion=No

Copy and paste this above and overwrite your 'ogre.cfg' file, then hit 'Save'. Once you have done this, click your Feral Heart desktop icon and run the application. If it does open, go to 'Options' on the main screen and click 'Rendering Subsystem' under the 'Video' tab and change it to 'Direct3D9' then relaunch Feral Heart. If it does not open, either try re booting your computer or referring below.

How to Change Your Rendering System
~Windows 7 and 8~

Method number 1~

First, go into C: > Feralheart. If you look at the FH main folder, you will see a flie called:
'orge.cfg'
Click it, and open it with 'NOTEPAD'.

Look at the first two lines in the orge.cfg file. That is where you change your rendering system.

If you followed everything that was typed and the instructions in the pictures, you should have successfully switched your rendering system.

Try changing your games rendering system.

Method number 2
Turn on FH!
On the main screen, you will see this:

Click options, and go to video. Click 'Rendering System.'

Then just simply switch your rendering system.

Note that sometimes method 2 doesn't awlways work- That's why I listed the orge.cfg file first. ^^ Good luck! Hope this helped those who don't know how to change their rendering system!~

If none of that worked, are you using a Mac by any chance? Also, when you did uninstall, are you sure you deleted the entire folder located in C:/? You could try uninstalling the game again and then reinstalling using a new installer, and instead of aiming the folder location as "Feralheart" when it asks, name it FH2 or what ever you'd like. Example:

Do the same for this:

Make sure when you re-installed the game that you deleted the entire FH folder.
The "FeralHeart.exe has stopped working" message usually pops up when you are trying to get into a very laggy/crowded map, like Bonfire Island for example.
Before you start playing edit the game settings:
Turn the water reflection off
Switch name tags off
Anti Aliasing to 0
{Changing your rendering system between OpenGL & Direct3D9 may also help}

It would be a good idea not to get rid of any mods that you are using, as they can cause the crashing too.
You may also have double particles in you particle folder. If you do find double particles just delete the duplicates.

..I was literally 3 seconds from being the first one to post in this xD

Thanks for the help, but I tried to switch the rendering system and that doesn't work. I don't have any duplicated particles either and I tried to run as administrator and that does not work, also I did the character reset too. I had no problems playing before and now all of a sudden this started happening.

Perhaps your are missing a file? Try redownloading the game, and see if that works.

Okay, so I just tried to log on with my brothers account to see if he could get on and it WORKED!! Then I tried to get on with my account and it said feralheart.exe has stopped working.. so I guess it was just my account that kept messing up?? So do I need to make a new account?

This happened to some people. I'm not sure if this will really work, but you can try to reset your account fully (means that characters, friends and such will be lost).

If you thought carefully and really want to reset your account, see the spoiler below.

Log in the golden box found in the top of the site.

After logging on, you will see it has changed into something like this:

Just click on User Panel and log in.

After logging in you will see a list of characters (if you have any), Preset Uploader & Full Account Reset.

Type your password in the Full Account Reset section, click on Reset and wait a bit.

After resetting login in the game and check if it crashes. If it does... then I think you must create a new account :\.
