Roleplaying Pet Peeves
« on: September 09, 2014, 05:05:22 am »
Is there something that happens in a roleplay that just ticks you off? It could be something really small that you find extremely annoying. Personally, I really hate "mind-reading characters." You know, when your character is thinking a certain thing or it's implied in the text, and the other person's character somehow happens to know all of your character's thoughts without having them told those thoughts directly. (If your character has mind-reading powers, then it's understandable, but most of the people I roleplayed with didn't have characters with those types of powers.)

Kits with the scar markings.  You are two months old!  You are just learning to move arond how the heck did you get clawed up like that?
Everyone's parents are dead!  Why can you just say they ran away?  Why do you have to always get rid off them?
Insane characters that kill everything in sight.  I have an insane character but he doesn't go around killing everyone, he is just quite 'off' like giggling randomly or blabbering around random things.  Yes he is a murderer but he hasn't killed a hundred people!
"I'm a kitchen sink, you don't know what that means. Because a kitchen sink to you, is not a kitchen sink to me, okay?"

When you have a character that has been grown up on a certain fighting skill so he is like the master, but of course has some weaknesses, BUT...the other person's char just waltzes in with a supposed better fighter even though yours has been RAISED by BIRTH to fight and they just learned it from some random sensi. And this happens not just once, but to apparently all of their characters...-_-||

When people try to base RPs off of a movie but the characters make no sense with the roles. Or that they are not RPing the movie charaters.

Wanting to try a different RP with the same characters but have their pasts and personallites change completely. -_-||

Something that's really bad on Facebook roleplays, though I've seen it in FH: Roleplaying someone else's character.

For example, the other person goes, "Walks and Turtle follows" or "You see me doing stuff" and it ticks me off a lot. Let them choose how their character wants to roleplay.

Just......one.....-eye twitch-

"I no." *blows up and screams*
I cannot stand that when I roleplay, so many people do it, and it just....OCD kicks in and I start slapping my computer screen.  When I text my friend, it's ok since we're being extremely goofy but when it's a serious roleplay it's like...ohmygoddidyouseriouslyjusttypethat?

Usually I don't have many Pet Peeves with roleplaying,, since I understand some might not be as experienced as others.
Even if a problem I don't like should arise I usually just ignore it and go on roleplaying. Since it's fun for neither of us to get all riled up and argue each other OOC when the whole thing can be avoided.
HOWEVER- there is one thing that can really get me frustrated in a roleplay(especially with large amounts of people). This is when one or two players do not have the BEST roleplaying abilities, and their character is purposefully discriminated against in the roleplay by others who roleplay better. I have actually seen several cases of this in my time. I do not only find this extremely rude, but also unfair to the roleplayer. How are they to learn and get better if all you're doing is having your character pick fights with them and ignore them?

Meh that's pretty much my only BIG pet peeve. Love this topic by the way <3

When warrior cats (or any animal, really) are maximum size and fight like NINJAS. I mean, cats fight with paw swipes/quick slashes and biting... not throwing people into trees and doing spinning-back kicks.

Also, when people force you into roleplays without even reading your bios. Not every cream-colored cat without spots/stripes is a lion. Or when someone screams "OMG UR NOT REALIZTIC! U NOOB!" when they force a roleplay with the supernatural.

There's a lot more, but these are the main peeves.

When users believe that they have to be the strongest, mightiest warrior that is unable to lose any battles. Just because they're the leader doesn't mean that they have to be the very best. Everyone should be defeated every now and then. If you lose one fight, that doesn't make you weak, that makes you human/animal/whatever you're roleplaying.
