Favorite historic person(s)?
« on: September 30, 2014, 02:54:53 pm »
Hey there guys. I was wondering, who is your favorite historic person, and why? What did they do that stuck out to you?

Personally, my favorite is Martin Luther King Jr. His story always stuck out to me, and I admire the way he resisted a hostile community, and spoke out against it. His words are extremely well spoken, and made me think different about the world. MLKj will always be one of my historic favorites.

For a bonus, here's his famous 'I have a dream' speech. So, who is your favorite(s)?

Mmm, 'tis a good'n hard question.
Mine would probably be... Davy Crockett x3 I favor the fairytales and legends of the American West. Or David Bowie, self-explained due to my love for knives. Nehehe.
Not sure if these men count as historic persons, but they are favorites of mine.
Edgar Allan Poe ~ Favorite poet.
Louis Wain ~ Favorite artist.

-Sticks to this topic-
I love history myself. This is going to be hard to choose :'D

I have to say one of my top favorite historical figures is Sam Adams.

I just love the Boston Tea Party in General and I've always loved the story about how he and the Sons Of Liberty lead patriots and raided British Tea Ships :3

I also love to read about the Medici Family

Just their absolute power in Italy and their prosperous family banking was very fascinating to me.

Hnng I could ramble on about History for ages. Don't know why I've always loved it so much hurhur. Love this topic <3

Hrm... not sure how historic they are, but I has a few~

Albert Einstein - Well, he's Albert Einstein. I was a bit obsessed with him a few years ago hehe. *And kinda dressed up as zombie Albert Einstein for Halloween once*

Nikola Tesla - I discovered him while reading some comics and stuff on The Oatmeal, and after reading and seeing a few more things about him, I can say this dude is awesome. He really deserves to be a bit more popular, I hardly hear anything about him.

I have a few others as well, but these were the first that came to mind :3

Oh gosh, I'm the biggest history nerd ever. Where do I even start. XD

Though I have many favorite historical figures, I'll narrow it down to one for now.

This one, is five-star General Eisenhower (later to be President Eisenhower).
I chose him because he was the General behind "Operation Overlord" in WWII (the invasion of France- more commonly known as D-Day)
He's a favorite of mine because of his fierce military vigor. Without his push for D-Day, who knows where the U.S. would have ended up in the long run of the war. It was because of his strategy- working with the British and Canadians, of course- that the Allies were able to win back a vital point in France, which led to the further pushing back of the Axis forces later on.
I admire him for that reason, along with many others including his great Presidency.

For some unknown reason I like Paul Revere. He's been my favorite since I learned about him in 4th or 5th grade.

Martin Luther King Jr. also stuck out to me for the same reasons.
