Adding custom meshes to maps?
« on: November 06, 2014, 09:21:00 pm »
I'd thought I wouldn't be posting here for a while now, but I must ask a somewhat noobish question:
How do I get downloaded meshes into map maker? I've downloaded a few cool looking meshes, but I have no idea where to put them. I looked around a bit in the tutorials board, but couldn't find anything.

It's probably a really obvious answer, but I'm oblivious at this point.

*Copy and pastes this from my tutorial thread*

There will be two ways. If your files have a file with .object after it, go to method one. If not, go to method two.

METHOD ONE

1. Find an object/object pack you like.
2. Find the download link and click on it.
3. Once it's done downloading, click the .zip/rar file.
4. Find the file that ends in .object and move that to (C)>Feralheart>Media>Objects.
5. Then, move all the rest of the files into (C)>Feralheart>Media>Objects>My_Objects

METHOD TWO

1. Find an object/object pack you like.
2. Find the download link and click on it.
3. Once it's done downloading, click the .zip/rar file.
4. Move all the files into (C)>Feralheart>Media>Objects>My_Objects.
5. Go into the game.
6. Go into Object Maker.
7. Type in the names of the .mesh files. Remember, Object maker is CaSE SeNSiTiVe!
8. Save each object into a NEW group. (Do not put any files into My Trees, My Plants, etc.)
9. Voila~

When you want to get them into map maker, just go to I believe the third tab and then find a group. Click on the object you want, click new object or whatever it says (way too lazy to check right now) place it where you want it to be, a tada!

Hope this helps!

Adding to what Devynex said:

Make sure that when you have the objects loaded up DO NOT save them in the default FeralHeart groups (Example; My Trees, My Plants, My Rocks) save them in their own group like so:

This is so that objects will show in the map, and so that the objects will export into their own group/object file. It also prevents these objects from not showing in your map on other player's screens.

Thank you both, for our help. I just have one more question about Method 2. Where exactly do I type in the .mesh files? I tried typing it in the box that said mesh, named it, made a group for it, but it failed to export.

Don't export the objects in Object Maker, just save them. I'm honestly not sure what exporting is for in Object Maker.
