Fh, furry game or not?
« on: November 11, 2014, 11:27:03 am »
I've seen a lot of people get mad when I call Feral Heart a "Furry game". As if it is something negative? I do call it a furry game. You play as animals, you work with animal models, you rp animals (With human characteristics, behavior and/or body type). Does seem pretty furry to me. But that is only my opinion.

Now the thing is, what do you think? And, do you angry or not when FH is called a furry game?

The only thing thats furry in the game is the character you play. I dont get angry when people call it a furry game. Its just there opinion, and I'm ok with that.

Not at all. At least in my opinion.
A lot of people think anything to do with animals is furry, but in truth, that's not exactly true.
Here's the actual definition for Furry:
Quote
Furry fandom is a category (or sub-genre) of fantasy dedicated to anthropomorphics: fictional animal characters given human personalities and characteristics. It originated as a fusion of science fiction, comic book, and animation fandom during the 1980s.
*Quoted from Urban Dictionary.*
To me, Feralheart doesn't quite fit in there. True, there are probably some furries somewhere in this game *raises hand slowly*, but just because you play as an animal doesn't make it a furry game. At least through my twisted stigmatic eyeballs.

I personally don't get mad if someone says it's a furry game. It's all perspective, after all. Depends on how loosely you use the term.

Nah, I personally wouldn't call it a furry game. I think there's a pretty even spread between the two groups. I'm sure there are furrys that play and I'm sure there are also people that are not who play. I'm personally not a furry, just a fan of a good story and interesting character models.

No, this game is not a furry game, for as far as I know, its purely because of the roleplays that people might think that this game is a 'furry game' and this game does not even have half-human half-<insertanimalhere> models. The one thing that would make people think as such are roleplays, and roleplays do not change a game, for as long as we are speaking about the engine and such, but still, I don't think FH is a furry game.

if feralheart was a furry game, then wolfquest would be a furry game.

feralheart does not comply as a furry game at all. the animal models in this game are quadrupedal, they stand on 4 limbs. furry is especially bipedal animals. being a furry myself, i would know this.

It depends on the way you think about it. If you are thinking about furries as in the fan-made creatures, you don't rp as a furry. Your character is not a furry. But if you are thinking like the animals are just furry, you rp as animals, etc then it is furry game.

False. A furry is an anthropomorphic animal, 'or' a fan of anthropomorphic animals. An anthropomorphic is an animal or object with human like traits, and that can be any human like trait, not just standing on two legs :p, thus making it "anthropomorphic". This includes: human speech, human intellect, human cultures, human limbs, human etc....

It doesn't have to be just standing on two legs. It can be anything "human" attributed to it.

Also, I will add that I don't entirely consider this a "furry game", since you don't have to be entirely anthro. You can pretend to be an actual wolf and not talk to anyone :p. However, it does most certainly seem to lean towards the furry spectrum, including most of it's members.
i was generally speaking. most "furries" are recognized as bipedal animals, that's why I said "especially". no reason to get all smart with me and correct me unnecessarily.

I can now see why and how some people may think of Feral Heart being a furry game. Technically, furries are anthropomorphic beings with human characteristics such as a human-like body and work with human environments, such as using cell phones, wearing clothes, etc.

Even though, Feral Heart has animals that have human personality and such, they are not categorized as "furry." This type of game would be "feral" or normal animals who do human things. A furry and a feral are different as far as their form and placement in their world.

Thus, I cannot agree that a furry and a feral are the same, this does not make sense. It is to say a human and a monkey are the same. Though they are similar in nature, they have clear differences and why those differences exist.

Hmm...well according to the role-play's I have attended I would consider it to not really a furry game, but yet that is in the eyes of the person with the opinion. I attend role-play's that to me make me think of the movie Lion King or Balto.

Though there have been role-plays I have attended that actually were an actual furry role-play I attended one with my little brother, and I found it quite fun once you figured out how to role-play like the others without seeming like a large doof. xD
But in my thought Feral Heart can be anything your imagination perceives it to be.
