Black backround

I can log in and create my character, but when I create my character the backround is completely black and once I click start, I get to a black backround, with my character showing, and all the gui. Nothing but blackness.

Try changing your rendering system by going to Options >> Video >> Rendering System and switching to both options.

You could also try right-clicking the Feralheart icon and clicking "Run as administrator".

If those suggestions fail I would delete the Feralheart folder and re-download the game.
