Svea Arctic Research Station + Club ICE Bonus Map
« on: January 06, 2015, 01:46:03 am »
Nestled deep within the lush forests of Feralheart is a museum like none-other. Upon initial inspection this three story building may seem like any other but, it changes somehow... Every week new portals to distant lands present themselves within the walls of the museum. Maybe it happens because of the museum's name or maybe it's Fairy Magic. No creature can be sure. The only thing that is for certain is that this strange place will continue to change.

Over the course of this year I want to challenge myself to build a series of unique, public maps. So I set myself a personal challenge for 2015. I want to create one map per every week of the year, and I want to let everyone, that wants to, share in this challenge with me. I plan to release each of my maps weekly but I also plan to remove the download to the map from the week before. This will make it a fun "download every week if you want the full collection" type of thing. If you miss a week I will not re upload files for you however there is no rule against working together and helping one another to get a missed map. Everyweek a new map, aswell as an updated version of the Farcaster will be released and will be available for at least 5 days.

Follow along with this challenge via it's DeviantArt page! Sneak-peaks and extra downloads will be posted there on a regular basis so be sure to check back often. The maps I post on the DeviantArt will only be available for 24 hours. Miss them and you are out of luck.

WEEK III NOW UP FOR DOWNLOAD
SVEA ARCTIC RESEARCH STATION + CLUB ICE

Another visit to the strange Museum in the forest transports you a different world. Unlike the warm, sun bathed, Isle from a few days ago you find yourself in a strange barren landscape. Snowflakes fall from the sky in a seemingly endless parade of torture against your body that has gotten used to the warm Caribbean climate. Apart from the frozen lake ahead of you, you are unable to see much. Which direction to go?

Svea Station is based on a series of real places but they are by no means in such close proximity to one another in real life. Svea, is a small station that is, or rather was, home to the Swedish Antarctic Research Team. Next to it lays a sturdy cement dog kennel, featuring many enclosed dog runs. To the other-side of the map lays a small arctic museum and the remains of the Omond House and it's many elevated sled dog houses.

Hidden underneath the remnants of an old stone hut you find a large hole. You aren't sure if venturing down it is a good idea and hesitate for a moment. Hmm ... is that music you hear? You lean in close to hear better and find yourself falling down the dark tunnel.

Welcome to Club ICE, a club built inside a glacier. Though the atmosphere is cool the beats are hot and are provided by a rather large neon bear. DJ Gummiiibear doesn't need food or sleep to survive. He runs on pure beats and keeps Club ICE pumping 24-7. Club Ice features a large dancefloor, a heated pool and poolside lounge, a bar and a VIP section at the top of the club. All levels of Club Ice are accessible via a series of elevators.

Please Note the following before opening the map:
To enter the dog kennel simply walk through the front chainlink panel on the inside of the building.
You aren't going crazy. You are hearing voices near the Log Museum. It's a rather long, (40ish minutes) segment about the removal of the last Sled Dogs from Antarctica in 1994. Turn down the music if you wish to listen.
Club ICE elevators are simply water collisions so walk in, hit R to go up or F to go down.

This is a LARGE file. Alternatively you can download the maps in two parts

Click Here For Part One http://www.mediafire.com/download/e0c3k9x5uox16je/SVEA+Station+Download+I.zip

Then Click Here For Part Two http://www.mediafire.com/download/lcw7y94m4mjd3tz/SVEA+Station+Download+II.zip

As I forget to include a readme; Please follow all the directions listed in the Folder titles, then;
Open your music (found in the root FeralHeart Folder) in Notepad and past the following code directly below the last line:

[ClubIce]
media/sounds/ClubIcePlaylist.mp3
[SVEA]
media/sounds/SVEA1.mp3
media/sounds/SVEA2.mp3
media/sounds/SVEA3.mp3

Save and you are good to go. If you fail to do this the music in the maps will not work.

NOTICE TO ANYONE THAT DOWNLOADED SOUTH PLAZA ISLAND LAST WEEK

Due to me being a FeralHeart N00b I was not aware of a glitch with the Weather and Sky files. If you plan to ever use the Farcaster map again download this and follow the directions blow. This download is only for the people that already have the Farcaster Map. It will not give you the full map if you missed it. Click below to download the edited files.

http://www.mediafire.com/download/lfprt9tihtikjnp/South+Plaza+Island+EDIT.zip

Extract all files in this download and put them in their proper place. Replace ALL the old files with the new ones.
Then Remove these two files from your exports:
SouthPlazaIslandSky.fhs
SouthPlazaIslandWeather.fhw

Doing this will solve the glitch where people get randomly kicked from the map and also edits the Island to have a walkable Peninsula and non-transparent water.

Q. Wait what? How do I get to the new map?
A. Enter the Farcaster Museum through the front door, the picture is hanging in the back part of the museum against the long black wall [where the couch is] Walk through it. The portal is hidden behind the wall.

Q. How do I get back to the Museum?!
A. There's a portal hidden in the map. It's elevated on a small rock platform.

Q. So I'm in the Museum again? Where in the world did it poof me to?!
A. The second story of the back part of the Museum. All maps will link back to this Arrival Pad from now on.

Q. Is there lag?
A. Nope. I tested it on my crummy desktop without issue and neither of the maptesters reported any either.

Q. Rp? Can I / My group / My great grandfather Hank roleplay here?
A. Yes, Yes and Yes. Just be respectful of other users.

Suggestions for upcoming maps are welcome and encouraged.
Remember that this map will only be available for 5-7 days and will then be replaced by the Week IV Farcaster Map.

This map was play tested by Voltaire & HeroOfCanton.
Music featured in the maps is royalty free from Kevin Macleod and a random DJ mix that has no headlining name.
Meshes are from various sources via the FeralHeart forums & DeviantArt.
Certain meshes were recolored by me.

Upcoming maps are listed below and are in no particular order. Suggestions are always welcome and encouraged but if I feel that you suggestion may be too complicated for me I will politely decline, I would rather do a really great job on a map, then just an okay one.

Thanks Bloo. and Vask! I really hope people get involved, I think map making ... or making anything for that matter, is always better if others enjoy it. The download for the Farcaster Museum is up and I've added both your suggestions to me list Bloo. I ended up going for the South Plaza Island instead of the Galapagos Islands in general because it has color changing fauna. How cool is that!
