Map Issues
« on: January 15, 2015, 03:06:25 am »
If anyone could help me with this, I'd be grateful.

I recently built a map and uploaded it to Media Fire as I've seen tutorials to do online and around the FH site.
I put the map folder into my 'Exports' folder - but when I go to Cape of Distant Worlds, there aren't any portals there. So I tried exporting the 'Watermill' map on the map maker, that one refused to show up either.
Uninstalled FH, reinstalled FH - put the map back into place, and still no dice. And no portal. Does anyone know what I might be doing wrong?
If it changes anything at all - I'm on a Mac, and I did download some different items to place on the map. (Various trees and bridges.) But as I said, the Watermill map that comes on the mapmaker won't work either.

Thanks in advance!

If you had just put the map folder in the Exports folder, it won't work. You have to place all all of the files inside of it into the Exports folder, it won't recognize files inside a subfolder. And also make sure that you are only putting the .fhm, .fhs, etc. files into the exports folder. Hope this helps!

Ok - moved all files from map folder into 'Exports' folder - restarted FH - still no such luck. >.<

Make sure in Map Maker then map had the "Has Portal" box ticked.

You could also try putting the .fhm into your Terrains folder, the .fho into your Objects folder, the .fhs/.fhw into your Sky folder etc.
Will be inactive due to work and exams.

Make sure that in your Terrains folder that you have your folder for your map you created is in that folder. Do not touch that folder, and then export it and make sure you have all the exported items in your Exports folder. I'm not sure if the ''Has Portal'' box ticked has anything to do with it. As I remembered all maps that you created  are accessible through ''Cape of Distant Worlds'', the ''Has Portal'' box is just A way for your character to get back into ''Cape of Distant Worlds'' and if you don't have the ''Has Portal'' box ticked the portal just shows up outside of the map where it will be non-accessible for your character to get back to ''Cape of Distant Worlds'' and then you will have to end up going to your save place for your home. Again this is just how I remember it but I think it's still the same. Hope you get your problem fixed!
