If you owned FeralHeart

If you owned FH, what would you do? What would you add & take away? What would be your main focus?

If I owned FH, I would add new items, revamp some meshes, and update the maps. Taking away one map...Atlantis, I find it kind of pointless.

But, what would you do?

If I owned (and by owned you mean had possession of the source code) Feralheart, it may not make a difference at first.

I have little programming and 3D animating experience, so why would I even mingle with the source code? If anything, I'd hang onto it for a period of time until I found people (a team maybe?) who would actually make use of it and help fix current bugs, as well as make the maps more efficient and possibly tweak the available settings for the game so more computers can run Feralheart more painlessly before I added any actual new models, animations, and other various major updates. Adding more preset slots would also be convenient for preset makers and other preset-enthusiasts who frequently make presets for others and themselves.

After patching some nasty bugs and whatever other small edits, I myself would try to edit some maps to either: A) Be more detailed, or B) be larger and be able to hold more players at once for roleplay as well as casual conversation. Some of the maps current states aren't too exciting, such as South Pole's barren desert. Adding more meshes would give the game a more interesting and realistic atmosphere for players.

As for new animal models, I would see what a majority of the community felt was right for the game. I would never add an entire animal/character model without the community's opinions and arguments since they will be the ones playing the game, and adding models that the creator would perceive to be a big hit/favor may end up being neglected by a large portion of the community or just disliked. For example, what if I really thought that turtles (lol) would be very popular and added them? Do you think a game based around carnivorous canines and felines would use that new model as much? It would probably end up being a waste to a large majority of the game's roleplaying community.

I'd also like to add more tail, wing, and other bodily modifications to the already-exisiting models to encourage creativity in the game; to give the users a voice. Items are another well-liked aspect of the game now, despite users having to download them to use them (excluding the santa hat haha). Maybe adding some official items would be popular. More markings would also be a good addition to the game, as we can see currently with Mass Markings 3 and other marking packs. Of course markings may end up being redone (specifically the MM3 ones) since if we were to add them into the game, we'd need all of the artists' permission to add them since it is their work. As commonly discussed on the forum, maybe adding the ability to edit paw size, etc. may also be "enjoyed," for lack of a better term.

As for removing something, if bugs counted in this category, then yes, as I stated previously, I'd remove/patch them first.  I personally was never a huge supporter of the "coming soon!" movie maker menu since it doesn't entirely fit into a roleplaying game/MMORPG entirely, however if the community would really appreciate keeping it, there it will stay (updated to work, of course.)

Personally my main focus would revolve around the community's well-being, safety, and happiness. I wouldn't want to see the game fail, and I'm sure many other players can agree with that statement. I'd try to take ideas from the game's community itself mostly to see what they would want to see implemented into Feralheart.

Hopefully that response wasn't too jumbled. :) Those are my first ideas on your questions. Interesting topic idea; I'm anxious to see how others approach this. (Edit: added another idea of mine!)

If I owned Feral Heart I would probably add in new items, organize the window a bit, make the interface look fancier. I am not sure what else, but I know for sure if I had it I would make changes and updates to it a lot. ^^

If I owned FeralHeart....

It would be a mess - being that I know nothing about programming.
*But I'd like to add a vast amount of new models...heads,tails.etc
Add some new maps, insert a swear-blocking system, hold community meetings in-game,
and try my every best to keep the whole thing together.
Maybe add a few modifications in-game such as weather patterns/seasons, realistic day-and-night,
an actual fire in bonfire island, rustling trees, and maybe....just maybe some un-kill-able NPC animals
to add an atmosphere.

If I owned Feral Heart I would add items, new animals, maybe a few more maps. A volcano map would be pretty cool. XD

i'd make everyone feel the wrath of my homestuck puns

No, in all seriousness, if I had possesion of the game, and source code I would probably add a few more maps, different servers so we all don't crash in one, and maybe other-than-english-speakers have a dutch (or whatever the language they speak) have a server of their own so they don't have to be blocked by english speakers, and vice versa. And maybe allow symbols into the chat, because seriously, how am i supposed to freak everybody out with my lenny face gdi.

Err... Twisty owning a name would NOT be a good thing.

I do have some MINOR coding and 3D animating experience. Last summer, I went to a video game designing program (probably going back there again), and was able to make a small, poorly-made game known as Attack of the Sausage Babies. Given how advanced FeralHeart is... I'm scared of what I'd turn it into. :D
But in all seriousness, any changes I would make to the game would be small. I would probably keep all the same maps, but I would move the Atlantis portal to perhaps Flourite or Bonfire, and perhaps even add one or two new ones (probably some kind of ruins). I wouldn't really add any new models, but might edit the existing ones a bit (more mane/tuft combinations, more tails, more ears, multicolored markings, more diverse sliders, etc.). Other than that, I would have to ask the community and staff what else should be added, removed or changed.

Very interesting topic, by the way.

If I had the power to control and maintain the popular game called FeralHeart, I would do some many things to make life easier.

First, I shorten the Preset reference and make more simpler for some users. I would first customize a template of the preset you would desire to make it where just place colors and just insert a few markings holders. Then, once I complete it, then I would make a separate download and make a huge announcement. Then again, for this Preset Maker V2, it would be better. They're would a realistic off and on button where it would then automatically give you the selected fur. Instead of exporting it, just simply save it and it would be there on your game.

Second, I would really change the map around and remove some along the way; some that users don't usually do use. But for the maps I would make is a romantic map where you can find both Mate Center and happy couples from all around. Mate center would have its own personal little cottage, while there's dens scatter around the small forest. THAT'S IT. Cupid's Forest. xDD That's perfect. Another would deal a map where city and roads is take place, called the City Map -- New York City. Or just something beautiful, like the priderock? :o Speaking of PrideRock, I would personally bring back Feral Heart+.

Third, more music. With me nothing being new to the games nor the forum, I would highly recommend changing the music. Its been 5 or 6 years since its been feral heart and the music has never changed...So...I would totally changed that.

Fourth, since people be like 'who are you'(?) once you send a friend request, under your character would be the Forum Name where is from the forum. So if you're a forum person but hardly come to game, that would be you.

Well, that's all for now.

If I owned Feral Heart...

Everything would break

I'd probably take requests for putting people's maps in the game, such as the popular downloadable ones, and probably add a few of my own.

I'd gather several people who have better/more game experience than I, and just update the crap out of it.
Add better textures, add some animations, fix the glitches, add more emotes possibly, and maybe raise the marking cap.

I would not add prey, in all honesty, because AI can be a pain to code, but I would add more natural areas to explore, and add more things to the existing maps that I think need it.
I'm looking at you, South Pole, and you too Last Cave.

Maybe improve the music, since I heard it was a copyright mess, and the sounds....
Yeah, the pawsteps, roars and howls would probably be improved.

And being able to color the pawpads, more mane choices, and a better canine model.

Maybe even add another model, if people were willing to help out with it.

And for Pete's sakes I'd improve the graphics/ENB of it all, maybe have an option for blooming effect and whatnot.

That's all I can think of for now.

I'd love to improve Feralheart a little. As it is, it's one of those games that seems to be stuck in alpha.

I'd start by optimizing things. A game so simple and with such meager graphics should NOT be lagging out on a high-end PC.

After that, I would take a look at adding in simple functionalities - the ability to rebind expressions to keybindings, to turn off that bloody click to move, for example. Tidy up the UI, small steps.

After that I'd take a look into bigger things - adding features. I'd add some wildlife for players to interact with and hunt, an item system, combat and stats. Pvp would be optional - much like in WoW, you could flag yourself. Items would give either a tiny boost or no boost at all. The aim would be to keep the sandbox aspect where you don't HAVE to do anything other than sit around and chat/RP, but giving you options for other things too.

Maps would be overhauled to add things of interest, wildlife and other fun stuff. Glitches with terrain would be fixed, and sizes/shapes would be different. In addition, I'd incorporate some of the most popular maps into the game, holding a poll every now and again to see what one to add next.

The addons system would be improved. I would try to intergrate a UI where you could add and remove mods you had downloaded at the click of a button, while also compiling an archive online to track them all. If you party with someone and they are using a mod you are not, you will be notified (this can be turned off.)

Finally, graphics. I'd overhaul the textures, add new and more varied ones, and remodel everything from the ground up. Feline model doesn't need too much tweaking, but Canine does. I'd also introduce Deer, Horse and Lizard models, while deepening the amount of customization you could do to any of them.
Different colored markings, more than one marking, recolorable paw-pads, teeth, gums and tongue. Every aspect of the body could be individually resized, and some like tails and ears could be duplicated.

Overall I would have some LOFTY ideas for the game that would take me forever. And I'm kind of stopped by the fact I'm not the world's best coder. But, I would try my ahrdest to deliver on all therse fronts, even if it meant slaving away restlessly for years.1
