Freshman? Join the club today!
« on: August 13, 2015, 02:28:55 am »
Sadly, there's no club. I tricked you. Haha.

Seriously. Is anyone a freshman and soon to start high school? I'm literally crying in the inside and fearing for my life. Don't worry, it's not the kids - just the high school itself and how things/work is going to be more stricter. :$ I'm not ready  :(

As you progress throughout the school years, the work, effort, and determination needed are only going to get more challenging- but there are plenty of pay-offs as well. As you enter highschool, some aspects may feel more demanding than others, and there will certainly be times where the work will make you think. I cannot speak for every freshman, because my schooling may be quite different than yours, and every school and curriculum is different. If you want to prepare to do your best in this coming semester, my advice would be to attempt to find the importance in what you're being taught. Do the homework, try to make an effort, and try to enjoy yourself if you can. Depending on your school, certain parts of the work/classes may become more strict, but if you show that you're dedicated and a hard-worker, things will go more smoothly for you.

You don't have to be afraid of school, although it is completely understandable. Highschool can be a big step, and it may look pretty intimidating at times, but as long as you put your best foot forward into everything you do, you will be just fine. You don't have to like all of your classes- yet you may find that you even enjoy a few. Whether you particularly enjoy a class, subject, or not, school is to help you prepare to tackle anything that's thrown your way, as far as educational situations go. You'll do just fine, Thrillex. <3

If you define yourself by the power to take life, the desire to dominate, to possess… then you have nothing.

My mom had thoughts about home schooling...I kinda liked the idea.

Freshman was well. I'm both nervous and excited, since a majority of my friends, including one of my best friends, are all going to different schools, but I still have two out of three of my best friends and a few others going to my school with me. To add to this, I've always been in a small school, usually only 100-300 kids per grade, but now there are 4,000 people at this school, and among those are my <word I shouldn't say on the forums>, bullies and rivals from grammar school. On the more excited end of the spectrum though, I can't wait to learn some more advanced classes and hopefully join the fencing team. :3

I just passed freshman year. It was a living hell for me. I hated it. Long story short, I developed severe depression that lasted most of the time when I was a freshman and my mom refused to get me help. I hope sophomore year is better, but in my situation, that isn't a big promise. I didn't move schools or end up homeschooled like it was promised, so I'm stuck with the same old people.

Well, I am well passed being freshmen.
Although I've never stepped foot in a public school in years, I go to a private arts charter school. The crowd gets too much for me.
But was my older sister tells me:
"When someone gets you down or makes fun of you, laugh in their face really hard."
It actually works. Because it proves the point that you are human and not a punching bag.
I hope this helps you out & good luck out there fellow floof.
