Map Maker Issues
« on: October 07, 2015, 10:03:19 am »
I've been having this issue with my Map Maker for quite some time now. Whenever I load the height map, it'll work for just a few seconds, then immediately crash the game. This has happened with multiple maps, and I've checked all the tutorials over twice. Ive even redownload end feral heart to see if maybe this was the problem. Ive referred myself to all the old threads about this, and none have seemed to work. Can anyone help?

I remember having this problem a while back..
However I do not remember how I fixed it.
Though. Two things you could try.

1. Export it to another format. Jpg or png depending on what it is atm.
2. If you have multiple layers, turn them into one layer.

I don't know if the second matters.
But it's worth trying. c:
Hope it sorts itself out.

Be sure that you've set the heightmap to Grayscale, set the image to 513x513 (doesn't have to be these numbers, but they must be the same), removed the Alpha Channel lock, and have flatten any layers, if you have more than one. Some art/editing programs do not have the options to change the format to Grayscale, so usually Photoshop or Gimp is a good way to go, if you've been using other programs that don't provide those functions. You may have already seen Red's tutorial, but it wouldn't hurt to look through it again.

If you define yourself by the power to take life, the desire to dominate, to possess… then you have nothing.

One more thing that I can think to mention is no spaces in the name! 'Twill make FH crash for some odd reason. So if ye 'ave named it something like "Canine Cove.jpg" change it to "CanineCove.jpg".

Tmw you planned a ten minute nap but instead took a whole year.

Hi guys. I found out that simply redownloading the game worked. But thank you for your suggestions!

Of course, deary! Happy to help.

What it probably was is a corrupted or missing file in y'er map maker files so now that ye redownloading everything, the file has been replaced with a new one.

It is very possible that there was some double particles in one of the folders.
Particles with _1 and so on should be deleted as they usually cause the game to crash.

I have tried all of that except for the .jpg
I'll try that first, and if it works, I'll let you know! Thanks for all of your suggestions!
