People pointing out other's ''mistakes''
« on: October 29, 2015, 07:13:00 pm »
I'm sure most of us here know that Bonfire Island has many Lion King RP'ers. The reason why I said ''mistakes'' in the title is something that really annoyed me. Whilst I was RP'ing with a friend of mine I saw in the chat someone said this:
<Nala TLK> ur not nala, nala doesnt have slit eyes or is that colour im the only real nala

The other person was not infact trying to be TLK's Nala, whether or not the other person knew I do not know but the name Nala shouldn't just be around for one character, as should any name. I'm not against people rp'ing as Lion King characters at all, since it's quite nice seeing people form movie scenes and making packs.

Another annoying thing is there was a wolf rp and so many people got thrown out for not being natural colours. What is so wrong about being unnaturally coloured characters?

What are your opinions on these things?

Ayy, this is a situation which can be rather aggrivating. People roleplay differently and there's usually no need to point out mistakes. If someone is merely trying to be helpful, that's one thing.
Sometimes these situations can be mistakenly read and the person being corrected might get offended when they were only getting some critique on something they did.
RETIRED.

Like what PrettyReckless said, it is kind of aggravating. A lot of times I'll see people have their character with names that just so happen to be the names of characters from other games/shows/books/whatever, and anyone who recognizes the name will complain about how they don't look like the actual character.

A while ago, I was on and my friend had her character named Ciel (she named her character that because it means sky/heaven in French, she wasn't stealing the name). Everyone thought that she was trying to be Ciel from the anime Black Butler, and harassed her about how she didn't look anything like him, even after she said multiple times that she didn't base her character off of him.

So yes, it does get pretty annoying.

This bothers me quite a bit when it comes to the canon character name thing. I once had a character named Squirtle, and I didn't know anything about Pokemon, I just randomly thought of the name and thought it was cute. I kept getting whispers about how "you look nothing like a squirtle", despite explaining that I wasn't a Squirtle from Pokemon, but eventually I had to change the name to Turtle (which I still get a lot of whispers and such about, but luckily it's never hurtful or anything. I agree that people shouldn't be so quick to judge a character if they share the name of some other character---they may have been inspired, never heard of that character, etc. The same goes for people who get angry if some character happens to share their character's name (not including if someone has gone out of their way to copy that person to hurt them in some way, but just if they happen to have that same name.)

As for the natural/unnatural colored wolves thing, I can see why. There are wolf packs, lions prides, etc. that just want to keep their roleplay realistic, and unnatural colors just don't fit in. Of course, its another thing if they are rude to the player and say things like, "You're stupid and your character is stupid because its not realistic" or "im better than you because my character is realistic", that's a whole other thing. There's nothing wrong with unnaturally colored characters, but if a group doesn't allow characters like that and aren't rude about it, then I don't think anything is wrong.

Yeah, totally agree with all these points. As for the realistic roleplay thing I was once told to go jump into a rainbow to RP since I was such ''dumb'' colours, they intended it to annoy me but I was laughing so hard..

A few minutes ago I encountered a Kiara arguing, claiming nobody could be Kiara since she was the only one. I harmlessly asked whether Scar was Kovu's father since I was just wondering ( ever get it when you suddenly have a random question pop into your mind?? ) and people were screaming at me saying '' NOOOOO! HE IS NOT HIS FATHER UR WRONG WRONG WRONG! '' when I reply with something like '' I was only asking, I didn't say he was his father '' then everyone starts arguing .n.

Gosh. This is the one part I dislike about FeralHeart.

Pfft..Don't we all complain about the large, yet popular Lion TLK. XD

I don't have a problem with it, but it can be annoying and have a few ignorant people there. I feel people join from ages 5-30 xD One thing I hate/dislike about that group, is that there be like 5 Nala's and 1 Simba. Generally speaking, if you really think about it...There is more girls than boys in this game, which is why I could understand the amount of Nala's. It surprises me tag some females actually step up and play as a simba character or any male characters. Now, about appearance, i don't care if Nala was orange, yellow, brown, etc. When you encounter a roleplay you should have fun and not bossed around.

Umm..I can't say I joined or payed any attention to these roleplays.

I can see why people want realistic looking wolf characters. Unless it was demon roleplays, then it shouldn't be an issue.

Anyway, this is a reason I stay away from Bonfire.

I'm starting to avoid Bonfire due to the huge amount of lag for me and my friends on it and it's kind of scary flying up to the cave and seeing loads of Nala's or Kiara's. Also, Preach, when there's like 5 Nala's and 1 Simba they fight for him XD. I see so many Kopa's though.. I didn't know who he was until I google'd it haaha. :')

I understand if a character isn't accepting into a role play if they have realistic policies about unnatural colors because they're trying their best to keep their RP as realistic as possible color-wise, but other than that people should be able to design their characters as they please! The more creative the better! It really saddens me that people get made fun of for having bright or unrealistic colors on their characters when they're just trying to have fun and be creative unlike the other boring shades of brown and gray on the game.

i do agree with you; as for the TLK thing, i think that all people have their own interpretations of what somebody looks like. its more creative that way. it's like halloween LOL you've got 2395873 people dressing up as zombies but they all look a little different, don't they? it's their own preference

as for the unrealistic wolf that is very true. i don't understand why members must pick at another just because of their character style; i mean, let 'em be creative. if we were limited to realistic colors then it would shorten the span of the appearance of characters. less creativity, we'd all look similar in a sense.

that's all i've really gotta say about it B]
pardon my awful grammar its a habit of mine, too lazy to type properly OOC
