It's sort of the same for Snake.
After seeing Alois's past, I couldn't help but feel bad for him. I knew what his past was for years and I felt bad and I even loved Alois back then, then I found Sebastian and later Snake but suddenly Alois is back.
He lost so many things he ever cared for. After his own brother's death, he never mentally aged in memory of his brother.
His own brother even called him "Your Highness", such a touching moment every time he did! Shame for Alois who cared for this brother so much, who was the only one to keep him company and then died.
After Alois told Claude he basically loved Claude, he literally turned against the contract and simply killed Alois like

Oh, wow...

I guess you could say I like Bonnie for the reason of the fact I feel sorry for him...

1: He died as a child and was stuffed into an animatronic suit.

2: He got his face and arm ripped off.

3: He was replaced by... Whatever that thing is...

and 4: Why?!
