How to be accepted into an RP group?
« on: February 07, 2016, 12:45:28 pm »
Hello,
First off I'd like to apologize if this is in the wrong area, I joined FH a few days ago and I'm still kinda new to this!

Anyway,
I have been wanted to join an Rp group ( In which people make movie clips to advertise )
however I am confused how too, I Rp a lot out of FH, but when I give someone a sample of my Rping, they say they like it, but I
need to post 2 times ( or something like that? )
I would just appreciate it if someone told me to basics on how to get into an Rping group and how people actually Rp in FH.
( For example what does Sited and Mapped mean? )
Much appreciated! ;)

What they're asking for is for you to post 2 paragraphs. In-game wise, they mean post twice in Local or whatever chat you're using to roleplay in. There is a set limit of amount of words you can type in the chat box, and what the leader of the group is trying to tell you is that the minimum amount of expectancy in your roleplay is two post in the chat box two times or more. Another thing they can ask for is a Roleplay Sample, which is a request from the leader themselves that you post any sort of roleplay of your character, so they can analyse and see how well you roleplay and therefore make a final decision of whether or not they would like to have you in their group. In addition they will also suggest you pick a rank, which can either be located in the Group Bio or on a website they might have made which can be viewed in your browser. Either ask them for that link or find it in the Group Bio yourself and pick a rank, and knowing what groups are like they'll ask you to add the "tag". All you have to do is find the tag (for example, in a random group called Shurtle Dominion, the rank Guard might have "SDg" beside it to represent Guard. SDg is the tag) and log out, log back in and add that tag to the end of your character's username (you can do this by clicking the Edit button in the character selection when you log in). This will represent your rank and that you are within that group. ^^' Hope this helps, good luck!

First of all, welcome to Feralheart!

Second, here's a few links you could check out to help improve RP skills!

A Short RP Guide

When someone says to post 2 times, they may either mean to post at least two sentences, or to fill up the chat box twice, using a 'continued' symbol when you run out of room.

As Shurtle said, a continued symbol let's other people know that you ran out of room in the chat box, but are not finished typing. Some common continued symbols are ">>, -c-," etc.

The majority of Feralheart players, also roleplay in third-person, meaning they describe their character using "he,she, they" etc. Others prefer to go in first person RP, using "I, me" etc, but this is usually less common.

Feralheart RP Guide

That link takes you to a guide that lists some of the RP 'levels', that have made their way into the game, along with different group types.

Dr. Ballard's Complete Guide to Roleplaying

Above is another fantastic link about roleplaying that I hope also helps.

Sometimes, a lot of people enjoy just RPing one-on-one, and not forming a group, which can be super fun!

But maybe you can try making your own group!  The possibilities are endless on how you could shape your group to be.

I hope I helped at least a little, floof. My strongest advice would be to just keep persevering! If at first you don't succeed, try try again. You'll get into a group with lots of awesome people soon enough!

Also, to add on, if a roleplay is 'sited' it means that group has a website. If it is 'mapped' it means that the group has their own downloadable map that they use roleplay in.
Shurtle and Edolicious explained the rest perfectly.
Hope these all help! c:

I'd be willing to play out a false recruiting with you in-game or here, if you wish. Sometimes a ton of words can be hard to explain. <3

But, all above was well stated and marked, so I believe you may not need me. C:

Adding onto this as I'm running a roleplay at the moment.

It all really depends on the group/roleplay you plan to join. From mapped, non mapped, literate or semi. sited, non-sited, to realistic to semi or non realistic.

Literate roleplays tend to have you post two paragraphs, to be accepted as well as have decent grammar. You may be confused by how to type in two paragraphs when roleplaying I suggest using ">>" at the end of the first one to let them/others know you are posting more, and end it off with "<<" and or -d-.

Mapped roleplays tend to have a map to download when being accepted into the group, from either a public made map or private one the roleplay owner/map maker made for the roleplay specifically. [ most mapped rps are sited but they can also not be sited. ]
Non-Mapped roleplays are normally roleplaying in maps such as flourite plains or ficho tunnel, bonfire island, etc.

Sited roleplays normally have a website from proboards, or weebly, whatever they may use. The sites are useful as you can read information on the roleplay, post biographies, download the map, and read rules of the roleplay you have joins. As well as information on ranks, etc!

Although everyone has said a lot to help ye, I hope this helps some as well?
