Fur Texture too Large to Fit Preset?
« on: February 18, 2016, 03:33:03 am »
I've never posted anything on the forum before, but I'm in need of help. I've been wanting to start creating presets for quite some time now, and I've just found a texture that I like very much. However, upon opening the files, I found that the file fheadShade.jpg was much too large for presets. At the size of 2133 pixels at height and width. Now, I thought this could be resolved by simply re-sizing the image to 512x512, but once I did the whole thing turned wonky and extremely small. I'm a little discouraged because this texture is beautiful and I've really been wanting to use it. No-one in-game could offer any advice, nor did I find anything in the board/thread for Game Help. Any help would be appreciated greatly! (I use PaintToolSai for presets. Also, If you need pictures, I can try to figure out how to bring some up.)

Hmm...I remember encountering something like this awhile back when I was making a preset and the same thing occurred with the head shading, it was too big.
When I resized it, at first, it did look a bit small, but that was because I wasn't zoomed in at my usual 1OO%
Now, I use Gimp so I don't know HOW much different the two programs are from each other, but since the problem is similar maybe there's an almost similar solution. If you want to provide some pictures, that'll be great unless someone can help you beforehand.

Keep on traveling across this road called 'Life.'

Simply resizing it shouldn't make the texture all crazy. Of course, the quality of the texture will go down by a bit, but overall it should look more or less the same (just a smaller size!). For the body, you could simply bring it up to the size of the texture if you wish (however, this will cause the preset file's size to be bigger)

As said above, resizing shouldn't make it appear too wonky, but I get where y'er coming from. The texture may be too big to resize and still 'ave it look decent. 'Ave ye thought of trying a resizing pic website? A resize site may do a better job at keeping the image's integrity without messing it up as bad as SAI does when resizing.

Hope this helps ye deary! Best of luck with y'er preset.

Tmw you planned a ten minute nap but instead took a whole year.

Thanks for your input, everyone. I looked into it a bit more and found I was re-sizing the image's resolution instead of pixels. That's what made it too small/unfit! Kind of feel a bit foolish, but I'm glad it got sorted out.
