Downloading object for map help
« on: May 05, 2016, 12:30:22 am »
Hello everyone! I've been working at a map's height terrain for a few days now with the helpful expert of a friend beside me. Currently, I am happy with how it has come out and am ready to take the next step.

During this time my friend is creating the alpha (terrain type) of the map since I am pretty awful at copying intricate designs.  :-\

And, with my greatest discomfort, I am one of the very few who do not have access to Feral Heart because of the login page. I was going to wait for my friend to finish the terrain type part of the map, but now it looks like I have a lot of time on my hands and I don't want to waste it.

So, I come to you all in hopes of learning how to download objects (for the map) into my Feral Heart and test them out, to not waste time of course. ;)

Could you all guide me through the intricate steps of this process and point out when I am making mistakes? (I so do really need the help)

Thanks!

If you mean looking for user made meshes to put into your map, you can go ahead by starting with looking for meshes you'd like in your map. c: I'd recommend searching for stuff on deviantart or on the Mesh boards located here. Once you find meshes you like, go ahead and download the files that the user put up for ya. Don't forget to give credit when needed as well! ^u^

To get these objects in your map, you're going to want to drop these files you downloaded into your FeralHeart>>Media >>Objects>>My Objects folder. Once they are there, load up Feral Heart and go to Tools>>Object Maker.

Go over to the Mesh tab, and where it says "Mesh:" input the name of the .MESH file that you put into your My Objects. Make sure everything is spelled and capitalized correctly, as well as contains the .Mesh, otherwise it will not work. Same thing with the "Material:" space. You're going to want to put the .PNG or .JPG image file name of your object's texture here so your object has texture. Then hit "Add New" at the bottom and your mesh should appear.

To save the mesh, go back to the first tab, name the mesh, and create a group for this mesh so you know where to find it. Hit save and then exit object maker.

Then you'll want to go back to your map in the map maker, and under the objects tab, select the group you created and then select your new mesh and hit new object. Then you should be able to place your mesh wherever you like in your map.

Hope this helps! If you have any questions or problems just let me know! c:
