Failed to connect to map server

I just installed FH a few days ago, and since I haven't been on in forever, I decided to play it. It's letting me go to the character selection, but, every time I select my character, it loads for at lease 2 minutes, then says "Failed to connect to map server, retry?" I am leaving the page open to play, and tried resetting my character's home, but it's not working. I tried reinstalling the game, restarted my computer, and everything. Nothing has worked..

Did you login to the Play Game page on FH and try to get on?
It must be open while you try to enter the game. If you open up the page with FH open restart FH and it should let you in.

Yeah don't close out of the Feralheart Log In Page [website] when you go to play Feralheart otherwise it won't work.
It's connected to the server so if you close out of the website it'll boot you out.
Just keep the website in the background or something; don't minimize it either.

You may also want to consider resetting your character's homes. When you log into the site there should be an option to go to your user panel. Click there and log in again and it will let you access a list of your characters. For each character hit "Reset Home" and then hit "Send Home". Hope this helps!

I have this same problem myself. I've tried everything you guys have suggested on this thread, but nothing works. It just does the same thing that the first poster said - allowing me to log in, but when I try to connect to the servers, it says, "Failed to connect to map server. Retry?"

Do you FH brains have any other suggestions? I've tried reinstalling the program so many times that I've lost count, so that's off the table.

Kynvuu is correct, this issue normally occurs when you've just downloaded the update and your characters are stuck in maps that no longer exist.

And for future notice, there are two different server issues you may encounter while attempting to  play the game.

"Failed to connect to front server" - Occurs while trying to login to the game. You have connection issues or you're not logged into the login page OR there are too many people trying to log in at once. A quick fix for the problem if you are logged into the login page, is closing FH and reopening it. You may need to do this more than once.

"Failed to connect to map server" - Occurs when trying to load a character in. Can be solved by doing as Kynvuu said above and resetting your characters' homes and sending them home afterwards via the website.

It worked! I'd pressed "Go Home" on all of my characters, but it didn't work. Then, just now, I pressed "Reset home" and it worked. Thanks a bunch.

As for the problem:

As mentioned earlier in this thread, we have a new system in place to take care of the game and make it more secure. This requires users to open up a new tab on our site, login with their desired account and keep the browser open during the time they play the game. This tab is one of the new security measures, and as much as it might cause more hassle to play the game, we hope that all users understand the importance of having it there. Instructions on how to use it can be found below:

-Either use this link http://feral-heart.com/login/ or click "Play Game" in the right side of the site menu.

-Login to the account you wish to play on by providing the correct details.

-Give it a minute to connect and then launch your FH game client and login through there with the same account.

-Keep the tab and browser open during the whole time you play Feral-Heart.

Will the login tab stay forever or will we be able to login normally again sometime?
As of now, this tab is here to stay. We understand it might not be optimal for some users and might cause some hassle, but it's for the better.

Will I be able to sign in to multiple accounts at once?
You are able to sign into several accounts at once, however you might need to use different browsers to connect to more than one account at once. Download Firefox, Chrome, Opera or any other browser of your choice and run it in tandem.

It will not let me connect to the game, why?
If you're experiencing issues it could be how your browser is currently set up. We do not allow any proxies so please disable any proxy settings you might have enabled. Also do not run the browser in incognito/private browsing mode and have cookies enabled. If you still have issues feel free to try another web browser all together. Also do keep in mind that we do not let any banned users connect to the game
