FH Crashing Upon Start-up
« on: November 26, 2016, 05:29:02 am »
Hi babs.

I'm pretty sure there have been plenty of these topics here as of recent, and I've gone through the majority of them, yet I cannot find a solution to my problem.
So, as the title suggests, every time I start up FH, it instantly crashes.

Things I have taken into consideration:
Duplicated particles "_0"
Disabled Firewall
Running the program as Administrator
Installing the program and restarting laptop
Plenty of space on Drive
Malware protection programs disabled
Re-installing FH (NUMEROUS TIMES)
Changing the rendering system and subsystem in ogre.cgf
Deleting old FH folder
Installing FH to a different location
Deleting Particles and Objects folder completely
Transferring files from another computer

This laptop was just recently reloaded completely, including wiping the system and installing Windows 7. So no previous files of FH have been loaded until now.
Before, during FH 1.13, it would run just fine.
So perhaps could it be that the update is just not compatible with Windows 7?
The only other thing I have noticed is, when opening up the ogre.cgf file and changing the rendering system and subsystem before attempting to launch FH, the rendering system would still be the opposite rendering system than what was manually typed.

Thanks for the time and consideration.~

Looks like you've been looking through several of the help topics, I'm glad. I'm also glad you've been persistant at checking out several possible solutions. It's odd what happens to your ogre.cfg file too. I will have to look into what might be causing that.
I have one more suggestion and I really hope it helps.

Look into what graphics/video card you have for your computer and check and look for updated graphics drivers. This could very well be contributing to the problem. Here are some resources if you're not sure where to start. Maybe even a simple "Disable/Reenable" of your graphics driver may help too.

(I suggest the Manual Installation Instructions. They start at Step 5, but read through the other steps too):http://www.wikihow.com/Update-Your-Video-Card-Drivers-on-Windows-7
http://www.howtogeek.com/135976/how-to-update-your-graphics-drivers-for-maximum-gaming-performance/

I hope this provides you with some help. I'm really sorry you're dealing with this, it sounds frustrating. D: I will do my best to keep providing recommendations to you if this doesn't seem to help.

that's odd. restarting(downloading) feralheart fixed that for me. (although, i have a backup in a zip from past problems so that could be the difference.)

Maybe try installing the "Lite" version of FH 1.15, if you haven't yet. It's made more for computers that can't handle the lag of the full game, maybe your game is crashing because of that?

I'd also look into what Morgra suggested, and highly recommend updating what you can. Installing a new version of Windows onto a computer that came with an older version doesn't necessarily update everything, it's just a platform that the system operates on, and some drivers will need manual updating.

Hope the problem gets fixed soon.
