Stuck on a black screen?

Basically, my client is refusing to load.

This started recently. My client had crashed, but after that attempting to launch the game resulted in a black screen. Nothing happened. The cursor didn't change. I'm afraid that this will permanently lock me out of the game. Any help?

Have you tried changing rendering systems? Did you download anything recently?

You may want to try right clicking on the game and selected "Run as Administrator". Also check your particles folder and make sure you don't have any duplicates ending in _00 or _01. If you do, delete those and try reloading the game.

Have you tried installing the Light version (instead of the Full version), since it could be too much for your computer to run?
There is an option for you to choose which download version you would like to install (during the download process).

I use Wine.

'Ave ye downloaded anything f'er FH before this issue started to occur? A mod, GUI, map? It could be a misplaced file that is causing the issue.

Also, on a side note, usernames that are 16+ characters do not work on the FH game login. 'Twill not let ye log in. Just a heads up, once ye fix the issue at hand.

I reset my account and reinstalled FeralHeart on a different wine prefix, but neither worked. I only have Direct3D9 as a rendering system.

I would recommend changing it to OpenGL as that is the opposite rendering subsystem. Since it seems as though you can't access the settings menu in the client, you'll have to adjust it in the ogre.cfg file.
Take a look at the image below and notice at the top where it says "Render System=OpenGL" (yours will be Direct3D9). Type it out to look like the OpenGL one and make sure you don't accidentally add any spaces in there. Save when you're done and before you open up the game.

Tried it and I was STILL on the black screen.
