Game Constantly Crashing
« on: July 30, 2017, 11:38:38 pm »
Hey, everyone --

Short version of my problem: My game is constantly crashing.

A bit longer version:

My game used to crash way back when the login page would keep timing you out, but that problem has since been resolved.

I took a break from FeralHeart for a few months, came back, and now I'm constantly crashing. I can't stay logged into the game for more than 5 or 10 minutes before I lose connection.

1) I have tried reinstalling the game.

2) I have checked for extra particles.

3) My fh.log file keeps saying things such as . . .

ERROR::SaveFile:loadz: WaterMillGates.cfg failed!
ERROR::SaveFile:loadz: fhPodiumGates.cfg failed!
ERROR::SaveFile:loadz: fhPodiumWater.cfg failed!
Cannot find item with index 82
Cannot find item with index 58
Cannot find item with index 50
ERROR::SaveFile:loadz: 1_13_FluoritePlainsWater.cfg failed!
Cannot find item with index 92
Cannot find item with index 170
Cannot find item with index 415
Cannot find item with index 411
Network:: Startup Failed!

I do not even have those .cfg files on my computer at all and neither do any of my companions who play the game.

I know that my internet isn't the best, so maybe this is unfortunately just my internet connection, but I want to know if there is absolutely anything else I can try to fix this. My internet does not crash me out of other games this frequently, so I'm very surprised.

Any help would be very much appreciated.

Have you tried renaming/removing the old FH folder before installing again? Old or corrupted files might mess things up.
For the sake of my own health and interests, I've left FH and I won't be looking back.

Yes. I completely deleted the folder from both its original location and the recycling bin.

Odd, have you downloaded a new installer from here? https://feral-heart.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=23&Itemid=40

Since you say you can get on for at least 5 mins, try this:
Change the subrender system in the Ogre.cfg from Direct3D9 to OpenGL or vice versa.
I have the same problem, mine lasts longer but with Direct3D9 after a while it decides to just crash. But while playing with it set to OpenGL it runs just fine for hours.
For the sake of my own health and interests, I've left FH and I won't be looking back.

Yes, that's where I've gotten it from.

I've tried changing the subrendering systems already.

Someone else mentioned trying to update my drivers, but I'm not really sure how to do that. I'll have to search around.
Nevermind. Father told me not to do that one.

I would suggest uninstalling the game (not just deleting the folder) through your Control Panel completely. Then remove any files you have connected to the game. After that, try downloading the Mediafire version, as opposed to the download options listed for you on the website, in case they might be giving you some trouble. When going through the setup, select to download the "Light" version of the game (instead of the Full version); this should help with any lag that might be getting in the way. This version of the game will be a bit less "pretty," but it should be easier on your computer. If your computer is old, it simply may have difficulty running the program, but the Light version should help.

Perhaps try right-clicking on the FH Application icon, and open it as an Administrator, as well. ^^

If you define yourself by the power to take life, the desire to dominate, to possess… then you have nothing.

None of these have worked, either, unfortunately.

Is there anything else I could try?

Are you crashing on a specific character or map by chance?

Nope. All maps and all characters.

About a year ago I would crash a lot, but it ended up being because the webpage tab kept signing me out. So I got a Tab Refresher, and I was fine. Now, that page never times me out . . . I'm just constantly crashing. Maybe my laptop doesn't like some of the updates that have been made in the past year? I'd gladly take using a Tab Refresher and having things the way they were over this.

Is there any way to download an older version of the game with fewer "updates" added that would still allow me to play in the same server as everyone else?

It's a long shot, but I might as well ask about that here in case my theory proves to be true.
