Help Me Understand Own Collision
« on: October 17, 2017, 11:35:22 pm »
Hey there! I'm hoping this is the right place for this sort of question.

I've been messing around with the map and object maker a little bit over the past couple of weeks and I've stumbled upon an option called "own collision" in the object maker. I've noticed that this option is on a few pre-made objects as well and they work as if they have a collision box on them; however, for the objects I've been making, the own collision doesn't seem to be doing the same thing. I've tried using google search and going through guides but, unfortunately, I can't find any solid information on this helpful tool. Can someone help me understand what it is and how to use it?

Thank you in advance!

I think of this tool as like a barrier or something c':
It's to either prevent users from going through objects if they don't wish to , stand on certain things, etc.
Some objects however, won't really work with the collision no matter what you do I believe..

But all and all, that's pretty much what it is. Like a little barrier or wall to stop users from going through objects on a map and such. If there's gaps however like on the rock objects, then the user will still go through because nothing was preventing them from it.

Hope this cleared up some confusion, I'm sure there's an easier way. Lol.

Keep on traveling across this road called 'Life.'

If a complex mesh has it's own collision, it tends to become very laggy.  Without it's own collision, the lag is much reduced.
The Japanese concept of wabisabi:
The closest concept in english would be 'rustic'
They might have an old thing, one example is a favourite bowl or dish, it's broken, pieces are missing, why fix it?  With gold and pieces from other dishes?
"Because it was my favourite & I like it"
