The plants and rocks randomly and suddenly went poof
« on: November 08, 2017, 04:16:09 pm »
This happened a minute before this was posted. I clicked on my password box and FH randomly shut down without a crash message or even any warning at all.
That mysterious crash scared away all the plants and grass(Except me), and some of the rocks as well. The login screen is now an endless void, but the character select screen looks fine.

I restarted FH after I noticed the start screen's black background. I have restarted FH multiple times now, still no trees.
I have reinstalled the three maps I had uninstalled, still nothing.
I have reinstalled FH completely(Though I didn't delete the registry entry if there's one), it still didn't fix the glitch.
Even a more thorough reinstall using the uninstaller didn't help.

Screenshots

It seems that only the rocks and plants are gone, I still see the basic shapes as well as the waterfalls and water decorations.

I've heard I should reinstall FH when the objects go missing, are there any solutions I should try before reinstalling? I've reinstalled, it didn't make anything come back.

Since it can't be fixed, I've gotten quite used to the lack of plants. Other solutions are not urgent, but help is appreciated ^-^

I see the rocks and trees and grass in a second installation of FH, but not on the first, this is solved now, I'll just use the first installation of FH for creating.

  • Look for a file named "badfile.reminder" in your main FeralHeart folder. If there's a such file, open it with Notepad and it should tell you what file has caused the crash and in which folder to find it. Make sure to delete the ".reminder" and the file indicated by the ".reminder".
  • Try uninstalling and reinstalling the game. Make sure you create a copy of anything you don't want to lose, such as markings, presets, or items.

I would do a reinstall for sure. If you don't want to reinstall the whole game, you could try reinstalling just the "terrains" and "objects" folders using Bawfle's Backup Default FeralHeart Folders. Following that link, look under "Media folder sub-folders"

Thank you, both! I have no badfile.reminder, so I'll try reinstalling a few folders. I'll reinstall the game if nothing makes the objects come back.

Replacing the files with default folders didn't work, and reinstalling didn't work.
To reinstall, I simply backed up the required files then deleted the rest, then ran the installer and started FH before I put the backup files back. Even starting the newly-installed FH didn't work.

Sorry for the late reply, I had to go before I could try to fix FH.

Editing to say another thing I found out about this glitch: Only custom maps have the default trees and rocks.

When you uninstalled,
Did you make sure that you wiped the file from your computer entirely?
Meaning not only did you get rid of the icon, but any files associated with the game as a whole down to the C-Drive?

I think you can run the uninstall.exe ( ? ) that's in the main FH folder, making sure to back up the files you don't want deleted and then try downloading / reinstalling the game and testing it. Changing rendering subsystems if needed before slowly adding the files back in.. Especially if your maps have a different files.

Keep on traveling across this road called 'Life.'

I didn't get rid of the icon, nor did I use the uninstaller. I just deleted the FH folder then installed FH again. I didn't check to make sure there's no trace of it, I just dragged the folder into the recycle bin(After making backups) then ran the installer.

Edit: I reinstalled again, using the uninstaller and completely reinstalling FH didn't work either.
