Can't get this right,tried everything
« on: November 11, 2018, 06:46:09 pm »
First off,I would like to say that I am not new to preset making,in both FH and IT,never had a problem about making them myself.However...
I would like to make a preset similar to this https://ibb.co/nMg3YR
But,I never get the color transition right.
No matter what I try.
Could you do tell me how, please?
Thank you in advance!

Well, for color transition in my presets, I do this:

I add the lightest color and then make Airbrush tool very big. Gradually I go from lighter to darker, if needed I use Smudge tool.  After I'm happy with how the base looks like, I blur everything

If you don't mind me asking, what program are you using?

If you are using Medibang, a good way to get the blending would be to add the colors as you would like them and then make the blur tool around 400 or so and run the tool over the colors for a minute until it is fully blended.

If you are using GIMP a good way would to use the Gaussian Blur add on. That is really good for blending things!

I hope this helps!

^ exactly what they said. Use this guide to help with the chest and foreleg. It can be confusing

Yep,I use Gimp.Blending didn't really work,I ended up with shades that weren't part of that image.Guess this is a gradient thing?

Perhaps it would help to colorpick the lightest color, and colorpick the darkest color and use the gradient tool in GIMP to get the effect you're looking for. Then, lightly blur the edges so it doesn't look rough after applying the gradient.

Try taking a peak at this gradient tutorial that goes more into depth with the various options and settings for the gradient tool! Their examples look real nice so maybe it could help you out!

ok,everything failed.I give up.
I really would have loved a character like that, but even when I requested it,people didn't even answer, meaning it must be really hard to do it.
If someone is so kind to do that preset,or at least test their theories like I did reading your comments,I will appreciate it.

Hm, I'm sorry to hear that your problem couldn't be solved. Are you sure you tried every option there was such as looking at tutorials and etc? But no, making presets that look like that aren't difficult to make in my opinion. Perhaps I could possibly create it for you one day? I have other presets that I need to make before a specific date but I'll manage! PM me about it anytime. If anyone else takes up the offer to do it then I wouldn't mind them making the preset for you. <3
