Unable to open the game

thing is this, i installed the new patch yesterday and i even made sure to get rid of all files regarding the old patch (un-installing the old version) before.

when i then tried to open it, it crashed while opening and tells me (please beware, english is NOT my native language, i am a native german speaker so i have to translate what my laptop tells me into english!) "FeralHeart.exe isn't working anymore" .

no matter what i try to solve it, it just does not work.
the most weird part is... when i first started playing FH, my PC's system was a version way lower than Windows 7 and it worked PERFECTLY. when i had to switch to laptop, my laptop's system now was (and still is) Windows 7 Professional and it FIRST worked perfectly aswell... but this new patch strictly refuses to work...

is that possibly a "normal" problem occuring that can happen on a fresh patch that still needs a few adjustments??

would be VERY glad if anyone can help me.

Hello Skalli, your English is great; I would have never guessed that English is not your native tongue. As for the crashing, considering the patch is still a "beta run," if anything, there will be a few bumps before it will be working on every computer the game ran on before the update. Still, this is not always an appropriate answer and it would not hurt to try to solve the issue! (: Your operating system should not be the issue, either. Did you download any modifications (preset sync, etc.) before you ran the program? Did it crash as soon as you ran Feralheart, or did it crash when you reached the character screen?

nope i did not have any mods yet aside massmarkings and custom items before the first patch update after Kovu gave up the game was made and since they first werent working anyways i had deleted those in waiting for update of them to be compatible with that update. and yes, it crashed as soon as i ran the program. it started normal for maybe 3 seconds and then it crashed.

Hey-o!

It could also be the shortcut to the extension of the game. Have you tried going into the files and hitting the main extension from there? That has been an issue for me before - just the shortcut stopped working. If that is the case, you could just throw a new shortcut onto your main desktop!

sadly, no, does not open from there and making a new SC doesnt work aswell :/

So the game immediately crashes the moment you're starting it up, eh?
That does sound like it could be something wrong with the file.. maybe something is left behind that isn't letting the game run properly? Are you sure you've removed everything and starting fresh?
Another thing you can try is changing the Rendering Subsystems and seeing if that does anything. It'll be located in the main FH folder with a notepad 'ogre.cfg.' Try switching the top line with the other rendering system.
Hopefully something works out for you!

i went through all again and indeed found a folder that still was f´left. removed it and reinstalled game. still does not work

and with the cfg thingy... i cant find a notepad, only a simple file that reads ogre.cfg and when clicking my laptop tells me the file cannot be opened

Right click the file, then select Open With. Then click on Show Apps if it asks. Choose Notepad and it should open.

Also, maybe you can simply try to Rename the feralheart folder to something like "feralheartBackup1" and then install again? Should stop old files from interfering.
