Bring back the old maps – for the community!
« on: September 03, 2025, 04:58:18 pm »

Hello everyone,

I want to bring up something that has been on my mind for a long time. I believe I’m not the only one who feels this way – many players who have loved FeralHeart for years will understand me.

When the old maps (Bonfire Island, Fluorite Plains, Ficho Tunnel, Temple of Dreams, South Pole, Atlantis, Last Cave, Sky’s Rim, etc.) were removed, the game changed completely. For many of us, those maps were the heart of FeralHeart:
   •   You could simply log in and immediately meet people.
   •   There were always places where the community gathered.
   •   The nostalgia, the childhood memories, the special community feeling – it all lived in those maps.

The new maps may look nice, but they feel empty and impersonal. They don’t have the same charm, they don’t have the same hubs, and they are not a real replacement. For me (and many others), they simply don’t work.

That’s why I’m asking:
Please bring the old maps back – completely and permanently.
Not just for an event, not just for a “classic weekend,” but fully. This would bring back many old players who left because of the change. It would make FeralHeart what it used to be: a place where you could jump in at any time and meet others, instantly feeling part of something alive.

Whether the old maps were “connected” or not doesn’t matter. That’s exactly how we loved them, and that’s exactly what we want again.

I’m convinced: If the old maps officially return, it will give the community a huge boost. Many players would come back – out of nostalgia and out of love for those times.

Please think about it. It could be a big step toward reviving FeralHeart and giving us all that special feeling back.

Thank you for reading,
Eccipinkutrash

Hi, I think the old maps can be downloaded from here: https://feral-heart.com/smf/index.php?topic=68602.0

This download link should still work: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0Bwqv0BDen5u_bjlRY1Roeks3N3M/view?usp=sharing&resourcekey=0-uSJjOLXnSPtb4ASTyBvI4g

Sadly it's very rare to see any players there.

Sadly it has been expressed by former and newer staff that the old maps will not return. But I hear what you're saying, and I agree

It's a big bummer how often community members say this and staff still does not hear us out on it... It would really help revive FH and I know we aren't the only ones who miss seeing hundreds of players online from around the world.  :'(

We are listening, but there are more pressing matters to tend to first such as the performance issues and bugs which have plagued the game for years. Especially the newest ones which render the game unplayable. We appreciate your feedback, but we need a sturdy foundation to build on first and foremost. Figuratively speaking, when a house is built on a crumbling foundation, the house crumbles too. And this crumbling foundation is exactly what has been causing many of the issues people have been experiencing lately. Problem is, it takes time to do the job right. And as much as we would like to have everything fixed yesterday, it just isn't physically possible. It takes many hours over several months to resolve some issues. So all I can really say rn is that we apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate everyone's patience and support through these difficult times.

Plans tend to change over time. I can neither confirm nor deny the existence of plans regarding the old maps. That's all I can really say without giving away too much. It's Raz's place to decide what to disclose and when to do so. My job is to develop the game, help moderate it, and help with official events.
