Terrain Masks
« on: July 16, 2011, 03:12:58 am »
So....I need to make a terrain mask with more than the three textures, red, blue and green..I heard you can use up to 6, I also heard there is a glitch that makes them glow if you have 6...is that still true? if not what are the other texture colors?

Yes you can have up to 6 textures on a map.  You would need to make two separate Texture masks with three on each.  When you select texture 4 you will have to enter the the name of the second mask like you did for the first 3.

And yes they will Glow if they overlap.  So you'll have to be careful if you don't want the glow and leave areas black where you want the other 3 texture to be in the first and vise versa for the second.

Hope this helps

You need to make two separate masks (ex. mapmask1 and mapmask2).  Both using the Red, Green, and Blue.  In map maker in "World" tab type in the name of the first mask ( mapmask1) in the "Terrain Alpha Mask" box and set the first 3 textures.  When you select texture 4 the "Terrain Alpha Mask" box should go blank type the name of the second mask in (mapmask2).  The will let you set the next 3 textures.

Hope this helps you out.

I used those two names only as examples  (mapmask1 and mapmask2)  You could name them what ever you wanted.  The 1 and 2 at the end is just what I choose to do for ease of naming them.

Hope I understood your question right.

Yea i thought of that after i logged off but i understand it now. One question wen i tested it out part of the ground was  really really bright. Is there a reason for that?

Ok the ground showing up Bright or "glowing" is a result of the two mask overlapping and trying to show two textures at once.   To avoid this use the transparency feature of your drawing program to remove areas on the first mask where you want to have texture on the second mask to be. (this can be time-consuming)

As for the second issue, hard to tell.  Have you set all available textures, as when you enter the mask names only the first texture is set to African grass,  all others are set to black by default.

well the first time is probably cause i left one half white and coloured the other half. Then wen i made the background red it started glowing. Im not really sure wat im meant to do with the transparency feature and where abouts is it?
