Demonbane. She was the nightmare of every pup born in the Frostfang Pack. The snow drifted about her like the tentacles off a ghostly figure as she stalked into the camp upon fluid, graceful strides. Her breath formed before her in frosty patterns. Her eyes -- holding nothing but indifference -- gazed upon the crowd surrounding the nursery den. The apparition-like wolf's presence here meant one thing: the Reaper had come to collect her charge. A pup had been born in one of the recent litters without a hind leg. Such a thing would not be kept in the Alpha's pack. Every last bleeding heart knew that. And like every time this time of year, she had come forth to gather what did not belong, only to abandon it in the snow, alone.
