Game Help / Its annoying me help
« on: November 05, 2011, 05:49:36 am »
Well when i play FH theres two black columns on the side of the screen. Somehow they have disappeared and now the screen display is all stretched out. All my characters look fat and everything around looks so wide and its really annoying me. Ive tried fiddling with the options and this exception comes up.

OGRE EXCEPTION(3:RenderingAPIException): Failed to create Direct3D9
Device: Invalid call in D3D9RenderWindows::createD3D9Resources at
c:\Ogre_161_tag\RenderSystems\Direct3D9\src\OgreD3D9RenderWindo
w.cpp (line 597)

I couldnt remember the name of this website to bring up pictures so i couldnt post a screenshot, my internet is just too slow at the moment to view the other posts so i had to type it up. Hopefully i am able to view this post again otherwise ill have to wait a few days until i get my normal internet speed.

Thank you

Forum Games / Does that sound familiar?
« on: October 17, 2011, 08:03:34 am »
Ok this is my first forum game ever so it might not be any good. If theres a game like this r similar well srry.

How to play
Type part of a song but make it a bit different. The made up part still sounds a bit like the same as the original song but with different words added.

Example:

Tonight i wont feel like doing maaaany things, I just wanna lay and eat bre-ad

That would be the Lazy Song by Bruno Mars.

Today i dont feel like doing anything, i just wanna lay in my bed

So wen u answer make sure to add the song name, the person who sang it and how the part really goes.
Ok here goes mine

Put crumbs in your hair like you just dont care

Anyone guess that? Excuse the bad example and the one in red.

Note: Please try not to make it too long 3 lines is the maximum amount.

Have fun!!!

Game Suggestions & Ideas / Changing Homes Through Character Creating
« on: October 12, 2011, 02:14:59 am »
Ok well wen u first log in and create a lion or wolf there should be a box saying where u want to arrive instead of appearing at glitchy, laggy Bonfire Island.
I went onto a downloaded map and logged off, the next time i played that character i kept getting Bad Tokens and because that character was stuck in the map i couldnt get it out. So if i edited that character and changed the home to Fluorite Plains or the other FH maps i would get to play with it again. Another thing is u find an rp but u need a different character.
You make a new one and appear in Bonfire then u hav to run right through the tunnel and all. I arrived in Fluorite Plains at Stonebridge and the rp group wasnt there anymore. They left before i could join and no other rps were around at the time. So if u could choose ur home while creating ur character it would save time and characters.
Who else thinks this is a good idea?

Game Help / Forgotten how to Compress Files for Upload and Object Problem
« on: October 05, 2011, 04:22:23 am »
Well i havent uploaded a map in ages and i want to test a map on another computer but i've forgotten how. Ive looked at the Uploading Maps and Downloaded Maps in the Maps board and it doesnt make sense. I compressed the files together somehow and i dont remember how i did it. Wen i try following the tutorial then extracting the zip file all the object files, sky and weather files come out wen i remember only the map file was suppose to. So i tried compressing just the map file into a zip folder and it seemed to work. The only problem was the weather and objects i created using Object Maker didnt show up. Also some of the objects r larger on the other computer. I had this waterfall sliding offa rock but the rock has grown and the waterfalls stuck inside the rock. Anyone understanding this? Id really luv some help here. Mainly because i hav a new laptop with no map lags which means way better maps then wat i used to do, and i really want to share them now more than ever.

Okay first of all you need to open up Feralheart's Sky Maker.

Firstly don't worry it doesn't change the normal Feralheart sky you see in the default maps. It's only to change the sky in custom made maps. When you click Dawn (Top) the dawn sky will appear, the little scroll things under the list of skies I like to call "The colour changer" Play around with the scrolls and the top half of the "Dawn" sky will change its colour. Go onto the next one and then you can change the bottom half of the "Dawn"sky. You can do this to all of the skies until your happy with all of them. You can also change the colour of the moon, sun, clouds and the light.

If you want to see your sky change from dawn to night you click the "Start Test" button and the sky will change to dawn, noon, dusk, night then back again. To save it, type in the name and click "Save". If you want to share your sky with others click the "Export" button and it will appear in the "Exports" folder.

Obviously here is where your saved skies will appear.

To start your weather you need to click one of the following weathers snow, rain and light rain. Once clicked, the weather will start to fall. Where it says "Weather/Snow" is where you can type in particles for new weather. Right now I'm using the snow particle so no need to change it. Leave the X,Y,Z how it is, you can change the sky colour for when the weather is taking affect in your map- like when creating a new sky.

In the "Rate"box you can choose how much and how fast the weather goes. If you want maybe a snow blizzard then change the rate to around 3000. If it's too much then it will come and go really quick. When it snows the sky is lighter than normal, if you want to change that you can fiddle with the scrolls.

This is where you save your weather and if you want it stop snowing or raining for the moment click the "Reset"button. Don't worry it doesn't change the weather at all it just stops it falling until you click the weather again.

Here is your saved weathers.

You can't add weather to your maps without making the cycle!

First you have to click a saved weather in the green circled box.

The game won't choose for you when the snow or rain will fall so you have to do it yourself. The duration is how long it goes for so pick a number probably smaller than 4000. Tick the Fade in or Fade out depending which one want. If you do the Fade out one first then the weather will begin immediately. When you have ticked a box and typed in the duration click "Add New" and a blue ramp thing will appear. If it's too big move the scroll onto the blue ramp until it changes yellow then click the "Remove" button and change the duration.

Happy with your cycle? Then you should save it by typing in the name of the cycle and clicking "Save" then it will appear in the box on the side.

Now the sky you saved you type it in this box. Make sure to type it exactly how the sky file was saved. When you test it out in mapmaker it's the afternoon, the sky is going to be your noon sky. When you log in and visit your map through Cape of Distant Worlds your map's sky will be the same time of day as all the other Feralheart maps.

Here you type your weather cycle not your weather but your cycle. Make sure it's typed the same as the saved cycle in Sky Maker

That's all there is to it. It's very simple once you get the hang of it. If you don't understand this tutorial then please tell me what you don't understand and I'll be happy to help you out :)

Hello this is my first made tutorial so if im doing something wrong please tell me. I remember having trouble installing meshs onto Feralheart so if there are any others having trouble i'd hope this would help.

NOTE: This is very similar with WinRar too.

If you don't have 7-Zip u can download it here: http://www.7-zip.org/download.html

WinRar can be downloaded here: http://www.rarlab.com/
(WinRar is not free though but there is a trial, im sure if you search the internet you can find a free version *wink*)

7-Zip

So to download the mesh you would click the download link, but in your downloads folder its a 7-Zip file theres no materials or other things. Well, you would right click the the 7-Zip file and click "7-Zip" then "Extract Files" as shown in the pic below. Im using some clovers Thierry made as an example. A box should pop up so just click the "Ok" button and a folder will appear.

Inside the folder is the mesh and its contents. The file with the .mesh is the one you want to remember, because thats the file you need to bring it onto the game. What you need to do with all these files is move them to your
(C:) drive >> Feralheart >> Media >> Objects >> My_Objects. Just drag everything into that folder.

NOTE: I do not have 7-Zip any more.

WinRar

If you have WinRar installed all .rar files will look something like this...

You could say like a pile of books (I assume that's what it is).

To open WinRar files all you have to do is double click on them. A message might pop up but you can just select "Yes". When you double click it a new window will open up showing everything inside the .rar file. See below...

Installing into Feralheart

Open up FH and go into Tools >> Object Maker.

This is where you type the mesh file in. The meshes I downloaded was "trebol20.mesh" and "trebol1.mesh" so I'd type in one of them in the "Mesh" box, then click the "Add New" button and it will appear.

This is where the mesh's material is you can also change it too another material if your not happy with it.

What ever you download you will walk right through it. Clicking this will prevent that so you can stand on it and and not walk through it

Now you would want to save your mesh so you can use it in your maps.

This is where you would put the mesh name, I called it clovers.

Here is where you choose the group to put your mesh in, I made a a downloads folder to put my mesh's in.

Here is your object folders where your objects are stored.

There highlighted in yellow is the my "OtherPlants" folder where I saved the mesh.

Click the "Save" button, then you can find your object folders with its contents in Map Maker.

I hope this tutorial helps. If you need any more information or help, feel free to ask and I'd be happy to help :)
