What happened to password reset?

Ok ^.^ Heh, I'm fairly satisfied to know that its a not-just-me problem.

Thanks for the quick response, I'll definitely make a sticky note of that solution.

Ah!!! I saw a tutorial somewhere on deviantart! I shall find it! Tigerpython/Delayni person uses blender so they were talking about a converter...somewhere....The OGRE converter was something I considered minor until I could make game-worthy objects. XD

And the chandelier was made with all already-there objects in game. Kind of. I stumbled upon the files for colored crystals when I downloaded

http://www.mediafire.com/?ct0mdbz8j20ojc3

Which gave me the files - the colored glows and textures, the MATERIAL file documents...all I had to do was figure out how to put them together in the object maker. Which in turn taught me how to combine different tree barks/leaves with different tree shapes (an oak tree with sakura blossom leaves, a 'wooden' palm tree with a bark file where the leaf file should be, etc.) and then I started playing with adding new textures....The crystal files still get me a bit (it is SO fun to make normal-color rocks gleam like the crystals, but I have yet to successfully make my own custom colored crystal.) Errrrr I lose track of my point too easily. o.o

Oh! Yeah, the chandelier was made by a hanging Vine.mesh file with the YellowcrystalMat as the material file. Basic spheres and basic rings and basic cones are the rest. The glow is YellowcrystalGlowMat in the billboard.

If you want a (much) smaller map with the glows you can get this one I made
http://aleakim-selphorian.deviantart.com/gallery/#/d3ljn75

Annnndd off to find the converter thing.

Game Help / Recently used map items reappear when I make a new map...
« on: July 28, 2011, 02:18:44 am »
Just that. I make a map - it can be anything from waterfalls to stone mushrooms, castles, palm trees, anything I use.

I have a map with a 'rock garden' type thing, elephant skull, etc...Just finished playing around with it cos I was making height maps on Gimp and found one that was fun to jump around in without being overly irritating...Anyhow!

That map is titled Rigidity.

I played around in object maker after that, making a castle, making new textures for the rocks, etc. So then I make a height map for the half-finished castle.

I open the new heightmap in mapmaker, all looks well, I add some ocean and click 'test' to go run around and explore, see if there's any tall places or deep places that make the map a horrible failure. And there are plenty of deep places that can be tricky to get out of, but no deathtraps like I've made in other maps that require one to recall home to escape XD lmao....In the upper left corner I purposely made a place where there are tall rock outcrops, and deep hotspring-like pools...

I get out of Test and the objects from Rigidity have appeared. Floating castle, objects within the castle, giant mushrooms, trees, caves, more trees, stone trees, carved wooden figure like trees, stone mushrooms, real mushrooms, tiny mushrooms, stone bushes, etc. All these mushrooms, stone plants, go into a fairly sized (at least half of a 10,000 width map) rock/statue garden type thing. Most are either miniaturized, average wolf-height, or giant.

So of course my entire miniaturized rock garden pops into the hotsprings. e.o Usually it's not a terribly big deal - last time (the first time) this happened I need only delete four large and easily spotted waterfalls (and they kept appearing until I saved a new map - now the new map appears instead.) Finding sixty or seventy half-buried and underwater items in a map that should otherwise be empty? Is no fun task. The worst part is knowing that I cannot make another map properly unless I delete every single one of those items.

Now, yes, simple - kill the heightmap, delete everything on a flat plain, put the heightmap back in. All is solved, yes? Good, good? I did this. I put in some of my items, some trees, some plants, start thinking about a terrain map, wonder if I can make the water bubble or steam...Test it out again to make sure the trees aren't overwhelmingly huge...Get back out of test and EVERY single one of those seventy-some mini-items were back, along with the castle and such. I'm usually a very patient person, but my patience breaks when creativity is stifled by this redundant and time-consuming glitch.

Please help. o.o Suggestions? I know my maps will only grow increasingly complex (and become better put-together, rather than a mashup of random objects and various species of mutant trees... XD) as I get better at heightmaps and textures and other item-creation tasks...

And I'm also just noticing that this is one of the first times I've used the forum since joining the game. o.o So hello. *waves* I'm Aedre...I tend to talk a lot, as you've probably noticed. Hehe...

If I tossed you a map (or a castle without a map yet >.>) and gave you free reign, would you have any problem making weather for the castle grounds and such?

I know you're working on other things now, so this isn't a request, just a curiosity. ^.^ Also so I'll remember to come back here in the unlikely event that I ever satisfactorily finish a map...

I been playing with the object maker and textures and such, but I haven't been able to actually create a mesh-object like a lamp. What program are you using? I'm using blender, but I still really suck at making identifiable objects XD I need to get better at that before I start worrying about how to get them into the game... So far the best thing I have is...It looks like a sunflower. From the front. The back looks like it exploded. lmao :P

Hmmmmm ideas...

~ Chandeliers! For like palaces....I've been making palaces with the basicsquare mesh lol. Chandeliers are much trickier with only spheres, cones, rings, (yellow crystal textured) vines, and squares to work with... Heh, these will keep you busy.

~ Throne? Like a king/queen chair....ehe, then make a cushion for the royal pups >.> Might have some fun with virtual embroidery and tassels? Curtains?

~ Statues. Of.... Dogs, snakes, tigers, lions, dinosaurs, horses, warriors?
Perhaps you could make some stables - hay bales, stalls, wheelbarrows, water troughs, horses, chickens, cats...Dung! :P Don't ask how I go from statues to stables XD

~ Chariot! Wagon. Covered wagon!
~ Wicker baskets. Bahaha that'll keep you busy...
~ Fireplace. Poor man's fireplace, mud brick...Rich man's fireplace, shiny mantlepiece, chimneys...Lit/Unlit...smoke?
~ Brick wall, because you can! Haha, I have a stone texture for a brick wall XD and pink marble...
~ Couch. Nice and comfy.
~ Grandfather clock. Normal clock. Chinese-style GONG.
~  Shoes. lmao tooo many choices. Wedges, heels, clogs, sandals.... Dresses? Make someone's closet?
~ Book/books/bookshelf/Library!
~ Rock garden and/or bonsai tree, nice and twisted.
~ Frog. Lizard. Chameleon, iguana, bearded dragon, savannah monitor, T-Rex....yeah, those kindsa things...Not sure how good you are at anatomy. lol
~ The Golden Snitch XD
~ Dragon! Mermaid. Fish. Fishtank? Eel. Shark. Turtle. Unicorn...
~ Chain/shackles/iron barred window/door.
~ Forks, spoons, ladles, a pot/cooking skin to hang over the fire, a tripod to hang the pot from for an outdoor fire...
~ ummmm.... A shed. For storing things. Possibly a for smoking meat, storing food/tools, etc....
~ A blacksmiths forge would be interesting. You'd have to look up whatall goes in it though. XD
~ A loom...a spinner wheel for making thread...Spools...
~ horse harness/saddle/reigns to hang in the barn? Spare horse shoes, nails, farrier materials. Shovel...Broom...Hose? Water and feed buckets - feed bins! Feed bags...Grooming materials like curry combs and brushes and the metal combs used for mane pulling...Hoof picks...Saddle rack...
~ Neeeerrr ok my brains puttering out now. lol I like brainstorming like this XD I'll probably come back with more if something cool pops up.

The pictures are my chandelier...it's pretty simple but maybe something to spark an idea.

Game Help / "Invalid Map Name" Can't Save Maps
« on: July 08, 2011, 04:09:06 pm »
First - is there any way to make a .fhz map that I had made and saved in my email into the new format? I really don't want to lose it =/

Bigger problem - So I started playing with heightmaps yesterday. In GIMP. I followed the tutorial, saved it as a square, in greyscale, etc. and all the ones I made work in a map. So I went and made a more serious heightmap (as opposed to random blotches :P) and started playing with water and plants and I ended up making a full blown 10,000 width map, temples, trees, rocks, floating platforms, diving boards, etc.

About four hours in I decide it would probably be smart to save it... What do I get? "Invalid Map Name"
I don't know why it's invalid.
I don't know how to make it valid.
Help?

(I have already closed and lost the map data, so its already kind of too late but...)

Some map names I tried were

Map
Sanctuary
Granitfall
The Sanctuary
SAVEDAMNIT
TheSanctuary

I also tried these same names with .fhm and .map at the end of them sooo like

Map.map
Sanctuary.map
Map.fhm
Sanctuary.fhm

as well as with spaces and all that...And I matched the map display name with the map name, and then mismatched it ('Map' name and 'Sanctuary' display name)
I tried almost everything I could think of, and everything google could help me think of.
I tried taking off the heightmap and just saving it without the heightmap and it didn't change.
I tried turning off the ocean and it didn't change.

I have yet to try simply opening a new map and saving it...lol Figured I should at least find out what may have caused this, even if the problem didn't persist with a new map.
