Nik stared at the dead wolf, his ears back in fear.  The timber wolf was large but thin.  He was clearly unheathly.  His fur was ragged and some places had no fur at all.  But the thing the frightened Nik the most was his cold blank eyes.  He had not seen any infected wolves before.  he had left his pack because of his ranking and how they treated him.  But he was sure his pack had been infected by now.

Abyss rose to her feet and sighed. She knew what her alpha was aiming for, but had no clue how to get to the safest place, where the cold froze the bacteria that caused the disease. She had virtigo, from hitting her head when she passed out near the pond; she hardly knew which way was up, and which was down.
She did NOT want to lose anyone else to this disease. It claimed the lives of her previous pack, and destroyed her chances of ever finding the "home" the wind continuously called her to.

aluxia sits down, studying her golden paws. she felt dizzy, she looks back to slays den. her fur was oficially soaked through and lunix had begun to shiver. she stands and picks her friend up carefully and heads towards the den. she sets lunix down in his mossy nest and curls around him. she was starting to feel those nights without sleep. lunix begins to purr as she runs her tongue over his wet fur to dry and warm him. after the silver tabby was content and asleep she. lays her head down listening to the others.

Abyss closed her eyes to think.

Suddenly, she could remember the last few days of the last of the pack members. Her minds eye created a play right before her eyes as she opened them. She could picture them all conversing about what to do in a voiceless fashion.
"What are you going to do now?" she could hear in the back of her mind. She saw the enormous, scarred figure of Comanche in the water beside her reflection. His missing left eye made him look more like a pirate than anything. "We've followed you this far, and we'll follow you out."
He wasn't there, really, but he seemed real enough. "We do what Alpha said. This disease is coming from the north, meaning we head south until we hit ice." Another familiar voice said as the form of her only friend that was a fae appeared slowly. "Elder Valora always said that the ice would freeze the bacteria that created this disease.
"Alpha and Valora are dead..." the voice of Alpha's son, Alvah, could now be heard as his solid white coat shone brightly in the pale moonlight. "If we keep going this way, the disease will pick us off, one by one..."

"We keep heading south..." Abyss said, finally speaking out of her thoughts.

Slayter turned his drenched head and watched Aluxia leave. He frowned. Slay gave a quick nod to the other wolf, who's name he'd forgotten, insisting he come along. Slay and followed behind Aluxia, ducking his large frame into the den. He shook out his pelt, sending water and Switch into air. He cocked his head to the side and watched her. "Is anything wrong?" He asked.

Nik walked quietly back toward the den.  When he stepped in he dropped his tail and lowered his head.
"There is a dead infected Timber Wolf outside," He reported.

Abyss lowered her head, assuming the fact that the grizzly scene of an infected wolf probably scarred the others mentally. Now that the rain had stopped finally, she shook the water off. She decided not to leave without the others... She didn't want them to suffer the same fate as the Timber. But, she was unsure if the others believed the same thing they all did... That a solid, ebony wolf was nothing but trouble. Once she pointed herself in the correct direction, she found the direction of south.

Nik was surprised when Aluixa leaned on him.  He wasn't used to being with other wolves that treated him like that at all.  But he didn't pull away from her.
"I am sorry.  I thought I had it bad but at least my pack was ok when I left it,"  He said.

((Uh, I'm pretty sure she was leaning into Slay, dude.))

Slayter wrinkled his nose and nuzzled her neck gently. "I'm sorry, love." He spoke. "I've never seen anything like that, but," He shrugged. "Alpha's son is a pretty cushy rank." He finished and licked the top of her head. "Switch." He said. The bird lifted his head from the remains of the deer and looked at Slayter. "Do me a favor, man, go scout and find a new den. We need to get out of here." Slay spoke. Switch nodded and waddled out of the cave. He crouched as he finally realized it was raining. "Wait for the storm to pass." Slayter finally added. He sat down beside Aluxia and curled his neck over her, in an attempt at comfort.
