Preset and UI Issues
« on: May 09, 2017, 10:09:02 pm »
Okay, so, I just totally reinstalled FH, the same issue I had before I uninstalled and reinstalled, has not gone away. I run FH on the Open GL rendering mode, and the window loads as really tiny, like, to the point that it refuses to let you resize it. My preset's mane, even as a .png, has the transparency code in the material file, and no white on it, has white squares as if I am missing a texture of sorts, but, it's only parts of it. So I am not sure what in the world is going on, but it's rather irritating.

Can anyone help me with this?

When ye did this, were ye sure to delete all FH related files before reinstalling? Leaving files on y'er computer can be all that it takes to reintroduce the problem to y'er newly installed FH.

If ye did delete all the files before installing, try running the game as administrator. Ye can also change the rendering system by going through the main FH files and finding the file ogre.cfg. The first two lines are where ye can change y'er rendering system from OpenGL to Direct3D9.

Hope this helps!

Tmw you planned a ten minute nap but instead took a whole year.

The UI issue should be a completely separate issue than the preset mane issue. I will address both.

Your UI Problem
How to change the size of your UI: Go to C:\FeralHeart\ogre.cfg and open the ogre.cfg file in Notepad. You should get something that looks like this:
Code: [Select]
Render System=OpenGL Rendering Subsystem
[OpenGL Rendering Subsystem]
Colour Depth=32
Display Frequency=N/A
FSAA=4
Full Screen=No
RTT Preferred Mode=FBO
VSync=No
VSync Interval=1
Video Mode=1600 x 1024
sRGB Gamma Conversion=No
[Direct3D9 Rendering Subsystem]
Allow NVPerfHUD=No
FSAA=None
Floating-point mode=Fastest
Full Screen=No
VSync=No
Video Mode=800 x 600 @ 32-bit colour
sRGB Gamma Conversion=No

What you will need to do is, under the [ OpenGL Rendering Subsystem ] section where it says "Video Mode= (width resolution value) x (height resolution value)", change those numbers to a high value. I would recommend trying 1024 x 768 to start out with. You can increase these numbers as you go along and even change them in the ingame settings menu if you would like. My 1600 x 1024 resolution is one that I customized myself. Save the file and run the game.

Your Preset Mane
What software are you using to save your .png mane file as? I have experience with Photoshop but I can try to help you further from there. It sounds like you're doing everything correctly but there might be a silly goof somewhere in there.

I tried both Photoshop as well as Paint Tool Sai, both times it did the same thing. I'm not sure what in the world caused it, but something is giving the mane issues xD

Oh, I apologize if I should have addressed both issues in separate threads, I will have to keep that in mind next time there is an issue if so o-o

I did change my rendering system and such, it was Direct3D9 when I first opened it up after re-installing, but I prefer OpenGL, though it's giving me issues with the preset mane when I have it like that, not entirely sure why, and running as administrator didn't make a difference, I do appreciate the response though, I'll double check the file in which you said as well. All files were deleted for reinstalled.

Not a problem. I just wasn't sure if you thought the two problems were related to each other or not. ^^

For the mane, perhaps try deleting the file out of your preset folder and replacing it with a "replacement" file. Sometimes that might act as a reset if the Preset Maker isn't registering your changes. What I mean by that is just taking a spare, working mane file and placing it in the folder and changing the material file to work with that mane instead. Then, you will need to test it in preset maker. If it works, then try your original mane file again. If it doesn't work after that then it is something up with the file or your coding.

By the way, this is the mane code I recommend, unless this is the one you are already using:
Code: [Select]
material preset_#_maneMat
{
        technique
        {
                pass
                {
                        cull_hardware none
                        cull_software none
                        alpha_rejection greater_equal 128
                        texture_unit
                        {
                                texture preset_#mane.png
                        }
                }
        }
}

Okay, I'll have to try that. i did however, attempt the ogre file you told me to, and it didn't seem to make a difference, it still opened in the tiny window form. o-o
That is indeed the code I am using.

Yeah, I would definitely give the mane replacement idea a try. Let us know how it turns out. I noticed above your response to Enoki, the mane issue is only happening on OpenGL or is it happening on both rendering subsystems? Also which rendering subsystem is the tiny window issue occurring on?

So far that I am seeing so far, it is merely on the OpenGL rendering subsystem that the tiny window issue is occurring, I have not yet tested the mane issue on the other rendering subsystem.

I think the mane replacement thing fixed the mane issue, so far I'm not seeing those unsightly white blocks.

My recommendation of changing the video resolution mode now applies to both rendering subsystem. We will see if this fixes the problem at all. So how you changed the resolution under [ OpenGL Rendering Subsystem ] try changing the Video Mode under [ Direct3D9 Rendering Subsystem ] as well.

Also make sure it is spaced correctly.

Video Mode=1024 x 768

Think that's all correct, and it's still doing it o-o

Does not do the tiny window on Direct3D9, even changed it, switched subsystems, opened, switched back, shut it off, then re-ran it and it still does it on OpenGL
