Title: Bro's Graphics! [Replaced by FHD]
Post by: Brokami on September 17, 2012, 12:18:23 pm
(http://puu.sh/8tv9E.jpg)

This mod is now a part of FeralHeart HD, which can be downloaded here. (http://www.feral-heart.com/index.php?option=com_jfusion&Itemid=2&jfile=index.php&topic=45124.0)

I will not check these threads very often now as they are considered obsolete.

You'll likely have the version found elsewhere on the forums, that only adds bloom. Incase you didn't notice, this adds a fair bit more.

Perfect!

You can't imagine how grateful I am ^^ The ENB mod was exactly what I was looking for, but once I downloaded it I was stuck with the settings and didn't have a clue how to change it to my liking. I've edited some settings thanks to your explanations and downloaded the version you made.

I have one thing though: I got rid of the motion blur (when you move the camera around), which suited me better. However I don't know how to fix the blurry background. I mean, I do like the blurriness of it, but to me, on my screen, it looks a little patchy, like cotton balls smudged the background instead of the smooth finish I see your pictures have. Any ideas?

Anyway! It's amazing, thanks again!

It's a shame, but the only reason the depth of field in my screenshots looks smoother, is because the images were scaled down. Your best bet would just be to disable it as well. I really hate to say that, I've been up all night trying to find a way to get the depth of field to render smoother, but I have not found one. Also, somewhere in this game, there is a hidden shadow renderer. I'm searching for it avidly.

[EDIT] Depth of Field has been fixed as of Version 2.0
Title: Re: Bro's ENB Setup! Enhanced lighting for all!
Post by: Brokami on September 19, 2012, 04:56:28 am
The way it works, is, that, based on depth, it will spread individual pixels away from each other. An easy way to imagine this is to look at your hand up close. Ignore how the background blurs, but focus on the double image that results. It does this, at a pixel level, spreading pixels around randomly. Sadly, it looks... considerably bad, as there is no filtering, or blurring as such.

[EDIT] Depth of Field has been fixed as of Version 2.0

Either way I still love it, I can live with that. c: If I find the shadow renderer I'll let you know.

Eheh..
Probably wrong place, but eh.

Downloaded, but I have a serious malfunction. o3o
What do I mean by this?
Yeah.. Don't know /what/ that blue blob is.

I went into enbseries.ini to see if it was some deal with the motion blur or whatnot, but nothing seemed to fix it. :u

Probably some simple fix that I'm too incompetent to figure out. xD
But if there is a solution, please let me know.

Ouwch. Your card might not support enb, or, possibly, just Pixelshader 3. In that case, open up enbseries.ini and set EnableShaders_3_0=1 to 0. If that doesn't work, Well, try setting UseMRTRendering=0 to 1. And if that doesn't work, try setting QuadVertexBuffer=0 to 1. If none of these work in any combination, well, I guess you're kinda screwed, which I apologise for.

After all, this plugin was written by a Russian.

Just in the FeralHeart folder, then make sure you're using DX9, not OpenGL.

Actually, I strongly stress you stay away from this mod, if the high res textures alone cause you to have lag issues.

You simply drag the contents of one of the three folders in the archive into your FeralHeart installation folder. Simple enough.

Anyone remember Feralistic? I've managed to port over the character shading system. It looks a bit yellow in the default worlds, though, because the default weather system has a tendency to be very, very yellow. Is there anyway I could change the sky in the existing maps? Or will I just have to adjust my colour correction system to fix this?

There's sadly no way to fix the lag other than to disable some of the effects. The ones you should disable are probably the diffusing depth of field. So, set EnableDepthOfField=1 to 0 in both enbseries.ini, and enbseriee.ini.

I use a Mac instead of a normal PC, and I assume that this is the reason it doesn't work.

If i could get some help on how to use this awesome Mod, I would really appreciate it.

Oh, sorry to say but this mod won't work on the Mac version. I should have pointed that out in the main thread. Mac's don't support:
a) DLLs
b) Microsoft DirectX
So you're pretty much stuck for using this mod unless you bootcamp your Mac and chuck a copy of Windows XP or 7 on there as well.

Is there a way to maybe reduce lag? Maybe downsizing the amount some of the effects? Example lessen the bloom effect? Won't look as nice but at least it will still be there, might get rid of some of the lag? C:

I dunno, just want to use this mod without any problems xD

Make sure you're using the non-ssao version, and then you could try deleting effect.txt, or disabling Motion Blur and Depth of Field in both enbseries.ini files.

I stayed up all night working on the Christmas update, so bump.

Merry Christmas, FeralHeart.

I know this comes a day early, but I'll be off busy back in the real world on the 25th, and wouldn't want to miss the deadline.

So, Christmas comes early this year for you guys. It would either way, anyway, with me living in New Zealand and whatnot.

I just hope you all know how hard I really do work on this, sleepless nights and such. And to see just the second most recent version on it's own had over 250 downloads really inspires me, but to see such a lack of forum responses kinda... I dunno. It's just saddening. Really, I need to hear your feedback, people! Otherwise it won't get better!

After 10 minutes of messing with the enbseries.ini file I found out that it's the occlusion, shadows, reflection, and motion blur that's making my screen go all rainbow. Bloom effect does nothing and probably won't take effect until the other stuff is on. I heard that the ENB mod gives your game "more colors" so I was wondering if it's probably giving my game too many colors lol xD

Is there any way to dial down the effects on those or anything?

Yes there is, read up here.

Sadly, this won't work for all of you. Right now I am working on compatibility options, but it's not easy. If it doesn't work for you, well. Here, try a really, really basic version. A failsafe. The shiny eyes don't remove the originals. Send me a screenshot, I'll see what's going on.

This mod is awesome, with all these additional graphical effects it makes the game better, just one question. Is there a way to turn the bloom off? Because the bloom makes my character and everyones characters eyes white and not show the color of their eyes. The effects this mod adds runs great on my gaming pc.

That doesn't sound like an outcome of the bloom. Send me a screenshot, I'll do what I can.

Hello, I recently downloaded this your mod and it was just wonderful. ^.^
Except that it gave me a lot of problems just to open the game and then it lagged like crazy. I had to delete all the files in the end. It was really pretty though, and you could tell the effort you put into it.

Anyways, I'm not sure what happened but now my character's colors are all weird. If I add a marking to my character the shading changes and it just looks awkward. Can you tell me how to fix this?

Both of you, go into the "What If" folder in the original download, drag the contents of the "Characters look blocky" into your FH folder, then download the glossy eyes mod elsewhere. Probably a better idea.

Eh. I downloaded this.. Then Restored my old version. It made my Characters Blocky, and my game lagged like crazy. I think this needs a bit more work, so that we dont have to have a "What if " Folder. Not to say that this was aweful, by any means, Its a wonderful Idea, I just think the bugs should be worked out a  bit more.

The bugs are because of the game, not the mod. The lag is because you have a low end computer.

You're right. You want the "Characters Look Blocky" folder, my mistake.

As I said, feel free to tune it yourself to reduce the lag, or consult the What If folder which does have a fix for both lag and blocky character models.

If you're so smart, why didn't you work that out?

The only thing that would make this look better would be real-time shadows, but I'm not sure if it's even possible. I've actually come up with two theories as to shadows in FH: 1. They're coded in the game, and just need to be brought out via implementing the proper code into either PS or terrain.cg, or both (or maybe into one of the many .material files!) OR 2. They're not coded into the game at all, and the only way to get at them would be through the .dlls, which means it would be relatively impossible.
I've been looking into shadows for a long time, myself! and I haven't had any luck, unfortunately. :F

You and I have been going through the same task for quite a while it seems. Ogre3D, the engine this game (And Impressive Title) were made in, supports shadows without any modification, so far as I know. Considering IT had them built into the game, and FH is... essentially the same game, it should be possible. If only I knew where to look. I mean, you go into almost any .material file in FH and you find the line "Recieves Shadows".
And if you go into settings.cfg, you find: "Shadows=True, ShadowDetail=0"

If that isn't suspicious, I don't know what is. If only I could talk to Kovu.

If only anyone could talk to Kovu, rofl - his own staff has been trying to contact him for about a year now, and he hasn't replied; you know what the interesting thing is, though? He's actually been online in that time-span! he just chooses not to talk to people for some reason. As far as shadows go, I've tried over-writing FH's files with some of IT's, and all that does is crash the game, rofl. I've even gone as far as finding snippets of OGRE code and pasting it into what I think are the appropriate files, but still, it just crashes the game.

I'd definitely like to! :3 but I'm not sure how much help I'd be, rofl - most of what I do is "mad-science", just stitching things together until they either completely break or work - and you've already done an amazing job here with your ENB and texture pack. I highly doubt anything I could contribute would be an improvement over what you already have here. Still, I don't mind giving it a fair go. :3

Yeah, a little, rofl - it could be toned down a whit, and mayhap that would help. You know what would look really cool, though? Bokeh DoF; I'm not even sure if it's possible.

Your sarcasm isn;t needed, nor is it flattering, by any means. Can you not take constructive criticism? Why not try to be friendlier and possibly listen to the people that are using your mods, and giving you feedback. Dont post them here, if you do not want feedback. Like I said, this is an awesome Idea, it just has a few bugs, and YES the mod has a few bugs, as well as the game. I dont fix it, because I dont have the time, nor do I want to fool with it. ^^ You apparently did~ So good luck with that, and If I could Take floof away from you, for your rudeness, I would, and You can count on me, no longer downloading any more of your content.

Oh, oh, good for you. If you would be so kind as to all the other people who download this on a daily basis, why not link it here so I can include it.

Besides which, the character shading isn't mine. As the main post states, it's from Feralistic. So go -Removed by moderator- to the author of that, not me.

Zar, if I may say something in Brokami's defense, he worked his tail off night and day to bring you and the community this mod, likely losing sleep in the process, and the reply you fabricated was that it could use a "bit more work" - hopefully you'll forgive his frustration, but it is understandable under the given circumstances. You are quintessentially asking him to optimise and perfect an ENB mod, which is contradictory in itself - ENB causes a bunch of compatibility and performance issues by default, and the "what if" folder would be required no matter what - it's not Brokami's fault for the way ENB is, and he's done an excellent job of modifying it to its current state, which is probably the best it'll ever get.

Try taking all of the .ini files from the "What If/I lag a lot" folder and pasting them directly into your main FeralHeart directory. Hopefully it won't crash anymore :3

Much simpler. In your FeralHeart folder there should be a file called "FH" or "FH.log"
Just open that in notepad, and paste the contents here.

How disappointing. I may be getting a new computer soon, however. Perhaps it'll work on that. Only time will tell, I guess. Thanks in advance for the help.~

My laptop is so useless that even when I replace the files with the files in the I lag a lot>What if folder, the game instantly crashes before even loading. Yikes.

Hmm. Upload your log file, I'll see what I can do. I tested the files you're using on a clean FH install, and there was no crash, so I'm not sure what would cause it.

I warn you I am terrible with these sort of matters, so this may not even be the right thing. Bear with my stupidity.
I can't seem to acess my "log" file, if I am thinking of the right thing. Am I correct in assuming its the box with a black (or other coloured) background, with all the processes of files being typed out a rapid speed?

Much simpler. In your FeralHeart folder there should be a file called "FH" or "FH.log"
Just open that in notepad, and paste the contents here.

Will do.~ Here:
Code: [Select]
Capabilities:: VertexProgram: NO
Capabilities:: FragmentProgram: YES
Sound:: Initialized: YES
Cannot find item with index 93
Cannot find item with index 162
Network:: Startup Failed!
Network:: Startup Failed!

I assume it's meant to be longer, but I had un-installed and re-installed to try get rid of the "african grass texture" bug.

Sigh. Just looks like another case of "it doesn't work on your computer for some incomprehensible reason"

How disappointing. I may be getting a new computer soon, however. Perhaps it'll work on that. Only time will tell, I guess. Thanks in advance for the help.~

I only wish my help was more useful. Oh well.

Pawsome job! What font did you use for the SEE FH LIKE NEVER BEFORE siggy?

Prepare to have a heart attack, but believe it or not, that's Arial.
Just reduce the character spacing and it's one of the coolest looking fonts around.

:o 'Das a neat-o trick. c: Thanks for replying!

As you can see, the awsome shading only works for the Felines with markings. Is there anything that I can change about that? I'd love to see the other felines without markings the same way s the ones with markings!

I downloaded the mod but when I tried to open FeralHeart, the window popped up for a second and then closed on it's own.  It does this every time I attempt to open it and I was wondering if there is a known fix to the issue.  I'd hate to have to remove the mod from my system since it's so beautiful, I'm really looking forward to having it.

Sorry to throw another problem at you. ^^;

All the files simply need to be in the same folder as the EXE. Extract the RAR there. Problem solved.

I did download the 8.0p version.  Does this mean it just won't work on my computer?  It is set to DirectX and everything is in the main FeralHeart folder, that's what I think you mean by FeralHeart install folder at least.

Again this is a lovely mod and I can't wait to see if you do anything else to it in the future.  The screenshots are stunning!

It doesn't seem to work for me -- I did everything your instructions said to do, but it doesn't change anything. Help is much appreciated!

You sure you're on DirectX?
Yes, I forced the game into that mode -- all that comes up is the shading you did, which is really nice, but I want the full effect. I tried this on a Vanilla version and it had the same result.
I tried the f12+ shift thing, no luck. my characters look great, though.

Odd that it doesn't work for you. And note, the advanced shading isn't included in the performance patch. To remove the effect from the game, delete all the d3d files.

Try downloading my character realism mod. That should fix the blockyness. And to reduce the lag, go into every enbseries.ini and change EnableDepthOfField=1 to EnableDepthOfField=0. Also make sure EnableSSAO=1 is set to 0 in enbseries.ini, this is a big preformance hit. To disable motion blur, repeat this for EnableMotionBlur=1.

Well that was incredibly rude to Brokami. :I
Keep in mind that she has worked hard on her ENB, and only a few computers can even handle the awesome. (Mine can't either. XD)
At least acknowledge all the work she did to create something nice for the community?

Your mod is amazing, and I am astonished at the amazingly rude people who have posted these insults. They have no clue how hard this must be. I should think that all those who have insulted brokami for their game crashing, you cant blame it on brokami, and I think that you should all just sit back for a minute and think about the difficulty of doing this, and if you still think its that easy, Id like to see you do it in 2 minutes!
some people should learn some manners!

Hey man, i've been wanting to downlaod this mod and i havn't cause i'm afrad i might mess up my FH and have to reinstal FH again for the 6th time. So just to make it clear, what do you mean to put the files in the FH instal folder. Do i put it in the exports, media, what?  I'm only 14 and i just got FH last year i'm still learning how to use the FH folders.

You simply put it in the main FH folder, thats all, its that simple. You dont have to do anything else, no little trick, no special folder, just the main FH folder, thats it.

Hey Brokami,

I'm probably a huge bother to you by now, but I decided I would reinstall FH (I had stopped playing for a while) and download your mod. I've been looking to get your particular ENB setup for quite some time, and when I found out about your X and Y versions I started rapidly bouncing on my chair, from pure excitement.
Anyway, I have downloaded version Y to be safe. It didn't crash this time, thank the stars. But of course - another issue.

Upon booting up FeralHeart, I get my music, so the game definitely booted up with no issues. There is no picture, however - a white screen. I cannot click anything. Here's a screen capture so we're on the same level.

Gah, that's a new one for sure. You're on Vista and you're using Aero fine so I don't think you'd have too old a computer. Try updating your graphics drivers, there might be a conflicting setting in the card's software.

I had a feeling you were going to say that.

I can update my drivers on the company's website, I do believe?
Right now, I have went into Performance Information and Tools, and clicked "Refresh Now" as I have been told that I needed a hardware update. I did so, and my Base Score Rating changed from 3.0 to 3.1. Wow. Not sure if that was exactly what I needed to do.

Just re-ran FH, and the same dang problem. Plays fine without ENB, but have it on, it just stays white.
For the record, what key is it that I need to turn ENB off? I figured turning it off as soon as it starts and turning on later might help, as the problem could be with the boot up itself.

Pressing F12 will turn on Version Y, which uses SweetFX, not ENB, to save performance.
Version X uses ENB & SweetFX, so to toggle version X you must press Shift + F12, then F12 alone.

Got a possible bug I think. It seems when I flew up in one of the areas, as I've done before I installed this mod, it crashes my game now. I can get to the login and start screens just fine, but when I go to play my character the game just crashes and says it stopped working. It was working fine for about 5-10 minutes and then crashed for no apparent reason. Not quite sure what is going on there with it now.

*EDIT*

Nevermind, seems like my client was being stubborn. I really love the better textures though. Makes it easier on the eyes to play. n_n

Ha I found out how to hide the green text as soon as I downloaded your mod. I just forgot that I had accidentally re-submit the text when I screen shot. Was X glitching before? O.o Eh  but whatever, your welcome I guess. xD  I will just keep the texture lightening the way it is. ^^ Thanks for the reply :)

Was X glitching before?

Version Y has only just been introduced, using a different set of codes to make it faster and less buggy, at the cost of visual fidelity. Up until last month, X was the only option, and yes, it was, and still is quite buggy. Visually, it's fine, but it's the conflict with FeralHeart's (iffy) coding that causes issues.

Uhm. Well, I downloaded all that I needed to, but when I opened FeralHeart everything was completely pitch black.
It was responding, it ran fine, but I couldn't see any of the text. It was just.. Black.
So I took it out of the FeralHeart folder and everything's fine.

I really wanted this pack too. So, why did everything look pitch black? I tried both downloads X and Y and they produced the same results, even after deleting both from the FeralHeart folder.

So, what's wrong?

Nothing more I can say, than this just doesn't work on some computers. It might be your graphics card, your OS, your gpu driver, I really have no idea. But sometimes it's just the case. Y is there to try and fix that, but if Y doesn't work, there's really nothing else I can do other than to recommend you try updating your drivers and try again.

Post by: Nutella2 on July 05, 2013, 06:46:59 am
Oi, I see. ;u; Alright. I really do wish I could use this pack.

I've tried both over and over again, and they produced the same results.

This mod really is great, even if I can't use it.

My computer's an Acer desktop that runs on Windows Vista, if that helps.

Thank you for your help again, I guess I'll just have to use pictures as a form of playing with the mod itself.

I'm unsure how to update them, that's probably why.

Brokami, my brother! I was having the same problem as Rexa, unfortunately. Here's the issue in detail: The game launches, but only for a split second before closing out without an error message. I have the latest version of DirectX installed, and I've installed your ENB onto fresh versions of FeralHeart - I did the 'try different versions' solution, but to no avail. I tried high, medium, and the experimental beta ENB, all on fresh FH installs, and it still produced the same error.

And now for how I fixed it: I actually looked through and tried to find a crash log in my FeralHeart folder, and I got this

full path: C:\Let's Go\Vanilla FH\FeralHeart\
redirecting CreateDevice
initialising shader environment
D3DXCreateEffectFromFile failed
C:\Let's Go\Vanilla FH\FeralHeart\d3d9.fx(39,10): error X1507: failed to open source file: 'SweetFX_preset.txt'

It appears the crash occurs because the SweetFX_Preset.txt file is missing from the download, which after inspecting, it is. Using an old SweetFX_preset.txt from your older ENB releases fixed the crash.

Oh wow, it actually needed that file? I thought the preset was just that, a preset, I didn't expect it to be a required asset.

Thank you my loveliest companion for diagnosing my issue. I've reuploaded all versions with the additional files.

Sorry to everyone else, there was no way for me to know.

Bro, I'm going to take a conjecture (and mind you, this is just a conjecture) that it's because they have your ENB installed, but don't simultaneously have your character realism mod; I have both installed, and I never get the blocky characters issue. It seems like a logical conclusion to me.

Austin, could you perchance try installing the character realism mod and seeing if that's the case? The mod is here: http://www.feral-heart.com/index.php?option=com_jfusion&Itemid=2&jfile=index.php&topic=31650.0 (http://www.feral-heart.com/index.php?option=com_jfusion&Itemid=2&jfile=index.php&topic=31650.0) also, don't forget to back up your files before making any changes.

Late reply is late HERP
Anyway, Booted up FH again, White screen as usual. So I turned of the SweetFX with F12. FH is normal again! Yay! But without SweetFX. Press F12 again - it turns white again. It doesn't crash or anythihng, which is strange.

Try a new version maybe. If it still happens, delete d3d9a.dll / sweetfx.dll

Something weird happened.
The file you told me to delete (d3d9a.dll) was absent. Instead, a file named d3d9.dll was in there. Assuming they were they same file, I deleted that one (considering that sweetfx.dll was also absent) and rebooted FeralHeart. I was told FeralHeart could not run because d3d9.dll was missing. The folder was still open, so I undo'd (or undid? pfft) the file deletion. I booted up FH again; apparently it was still missing. I even went out of the folder and then back in again. Still no luck.
One problem after the other. Augh.

EDIT
Problem is fixed.
Still the white screen though. I'm currently downloading the newest version of your mod.

Low settings doesn't include any of that shading because it is pretty intensive to run.

For some reason, when I enable SSAO, everything becomes see-through. I have an AMD graphics driver.

That's a depth bias issue. Copy the first half of your enbseries.ini file and paste it here.

I can download it and all, I swear I did it all right but when I open FH it just comes up with 'FeralHeart.exe has stopped working' It's a common problem.

Sometimes it just doesn't work. Try different quality settings.

I have your enb mod, it worked and ran fine until now. All of a sudden my game stopped working, whenever I started Feral Heart it would say FeralHeart.exe stopped working. I found what the problem is though, its the d3d9.dll thats causing it. Whenever I remove the d3d9.dll file then FH works fine but when I remove it then none of the enhancements and effects work. Can you please help? Is there something wrong with my d3d9.dll file?

Try redownloading the mod. If it doesn't work then, then you'll have to remove it.

I fixed it, thanks anyway Brokami. I found what the problem was, when I overclocked my graphics card using MSI afterburner then I enabled an option in MSI to show my framerate but when you have that option enabled it starts a seperate program called on screen display and apparently the on screen display was using d3d9 because when I disabled the option in MSI and the display program closed then FH and my enhancements started working again.

I had an older version of your enb mod so I now downloaded your latest version on the first page. Awesome mod btw, I have the highest settings enabled on your mod cause I have an awesome high power gaming pc. Keep up the great work Brokami, your awesome!  :)

Good to hear. I use afterburner as well but because this mod functions through a wrapper they can cause conflicts with things like fraps or afterburner FPS.

Where's your FeralHeart folder? Can you paste the address here? It should look something like this:

C:\FeralHeart

Well I'm not sure why it isn't working, then. Perhaps you're running the game in OpenGl.

Amazing! A must-have! But one request, can you upload a .zip version for me? Thanks!

EDIT: Thanks for the .zip download! But unfortunately, when I apply this to my game, it makes the game extremely bright and there's text on the top left corner of the game. Do I have to put all the contents of all the folders inside of the level I want the mod to be in the FeralHeart folder?

I thought something was wrong because it was pretty bright, it crashed my display driver once, and it didn't look the same as the previews in the OP according to the start screen.

Those images are of an older version, I haven't had a chance to get enough of the new one yet. The main screen is always mad bright though, because the sun is shining directly at you. Try going into a map. It does look brighter, I know, because I like it that way. xD

That is rather weird, you have a very powerful computer. Try updating your drivers, AMD's are terrible.

1. Choose a version you want, and drag the contents of that folder into your FeralHeart folder (C:\FeralHeart\ by default)

You just drag the contents of High, Medium, or Low into your FeralHeart folder. It's not that complicated?

Every file in the archive goes into your FeralHeart folder.
You turn the individual effects on and off by modifying the files you don't delete anything.

Installation instructions:
1. Choose a version you want, and drag the contents of that folder into your FeralHeart folder (C:\FeralHeart\ by default)
2. Make sure your game is set to DirectX mode.
3. If it isn't, open the ogre.cfg file in your FeralHeart folder and replace "Render System=OpenGL Rendering Subsystem" with "Render System=Direct3D9 Rendering Subsystem"

Next time read the main post.
